Swimming 3 - Brigham Young University
Come join coach John Brooks and his staff at the BYU Swimming Camp. Our camp offers four days of training and feedback. You will define your own specific needs as a competitive swimmer, determine personal training guidelines to meet these needs and then develop individual goals to increase your performance potential throughout the year. To help determine these guidelines, you will receive interval training evaluations and coach critiques specific to your needs. Throughout the week you will increase your performance potential through the use of drills, workout sets, time trials, competitions and video sessions. In class, you will discover the theory behind powerful, winning strokes. You will study detailed sequential movements of competitive strokes, learn fundamental competitive techniques, view contemporary training films and receive valuable feedback from the analysis of personal videotapes. In the pool you will undergo extensive drills, workout sets and time trials. You will review your personal videotaping in class to give you insight into your training strengths and weaknesses, helping you increase your competitive edge. A day at the camp usually last for 3 hours. We teach all the basic fundamentals of basketball. The last hour of the camp is reserved for games and general fitiness. YOUTH LEAGUES The players get 10 games. There is a tournament at the end of the season. The players practice once a week and play once a week, an hour for practice and the games usually last about an hour. This course is designed as an introductory course for children who are interested in trying tap for the first time or would like to work on their technique and tap vocabulary. In this class the students will learn the basics of the American Musical Theatre tap dance style, as well as choreography to at least one song. Students will learn basic tap terminology along with tap performing techniques which will provide the student with a well-rounded knowledge of tap dance. This class is designed for 2nd-8th grade students. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelors degree in Theater, focusing on Musical Theater Performance, Directing, Dance/Choreography, and Lighting. He has been very active for the past 10 years in the Alexandria theater community, working with theaters such as; MVCCT, PCP, ACCT, and LTA. He has directed, choreographed, and fight choreographed children and adults alike.
