PTHC Kid's Camp-Volunteers Urgently Needed! - Philadelphia, PA
On June 4th, 5th, and 6th, the Philadelphia Convention Center will be host to the annual Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference, the country's largest gathering of transgendered individuals, families, allies, and caregivers. Part of the festivities is the Kid's Camp, where we endeavor to provide safe, affirming, and awesomely fun activities to the children attending the camp. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are low on volunteers on Friday afternoon and evening and all day Saturday. If you are available any portion of the day Friday from noon to 7 p.m. or Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and can supply a valid child abuse clearance (within the last 2 years), please message me. I volunteered at the Kid's Camp of PTHC last year, and it was a truly amazing experience! I hope you'll consider joining us! Please also consider sharing this message!

Express yourself! with Nelli Shevelkina Become an artist for a week in our art studios – dive into extreme sketching, painting, collage and sculpting. Work with different art media and learn how to create some art materials from scratch. Enhance drawing and painting skills by working on projects from observation. Discover and discuss masterworks. Experiment with many media choices and ideas from your imaginations. Projects include portraits, figures, sketching architecture and landscape outdoors, creating mini murals, collage, and 3-D multi media fabrications. Note: Includes a field trip to the Yale Art Gallery to view artwork and learn about several art media and techniques. Fun with Metal with Connie Pfeiffer Make jewelry and mini-sculpture with copper sheet metal and wire to wear or hang. Stamp, fold, hammer, bend, cut, twist and even heat metal to create pendants, medallions and forms from nature such as pea pods and leaves. Students will explore using basic hand tools, especially hammers, mallets, cutters, files, pliers and torches (one-on-one with instructor) to create works in metal. This camp is designed to prepare those who may have a desire to audition for and become part of the nine-time National Champion BYU Cougarette Dance Team. Train under the direction of BYUs nationally recognized dancers, including former and current BYU Cougarettes who have been on many of those successful national award-winning teams. You will receive quality instruction in all aspects of dance including technique, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, character and pom. Find out first hand what it takes to become a BYU Cougarette and learn how to prepare to succeed at the college level. Camp participants will be divided into groups that will allow the intermediate level dancer the time to increase her technique and improve on performance and showmanship.
