PowerHouse Regional Youth Conference - Milford, IN
The PowerHouse regional youth conference will return to Camp Mack again this year, providing a weekend of worship, workshops, music, recreation, and more for senior high youth in the Midwest and their advisors. The Church of the Brethren BVS and Workcamp staff will provide leadership for the weekend on the theme "Plug In: to God, each other & the world" based on 3 John 1:13-14. Cost is $80 for youth, $70 for advisors and will go up $10 if you register after October 21. Registration is LIVE at www.manchester.edu/powerhouse. Summer Session - Cycling - Pre Season Cyclocross Camp - Killington Mountain School
The KMS Cycling preseason CX Camp will leave you ready and eager to begin the 2016-2017 Cyclocross season! There are many skills and race secrets involved in Cyclocross, and this camp will cover most of them! Topics include cornering, sand, barriers, hole shots, run-ups, and off-cambers, to strength and conditioning methods and plans, race preparation, course inspection, race tactics, pit management, bike maintenance, set-up, and repair, the importance of tire pressure, preparing for training/racing in inclement weather, riding efficiently, video analysis, practice races, and pathways to the elite levels of cyclocross. There will be demonstrations, drills, training rides, on-bike games, discussions, and guest appearances from top collegiate and local pro racers. This camp is targeted toward motivated 13 to 16 year-old junior Cyclocross racers of any ability. They will spend the day at one of our local parks (Kinder Farm, Quiet Waters/Downs Park, Sandy Point). We will be hitting the trails and learning compass, navigation, survival, & animal tracking skills. Knot tying is also in order for this camp. Campers will get a chance to go fishing and make their very own fishing poles. Try your luck at crabbing and maybe even kayaking? Set up turtle traps and help with turtle research at Kinder Farm Park, then make a splash with catching critters through seining and seeing what is out in our own Chesapeake Bay.
