LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Week 4 Monte Vista Horsemanship Camp - Monte Vista Christian School
Monte Vista Horsemanship Camp provides an amazing opportunity for boys and girls to spend a week riding horses, making friends, and experiencing beautiful natural surroundings at the campus of Monte Vista Christian School. Located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains on the Monterey Bay, we offer structured riding lessons in the morning and afternoon for beginners through advanced riders looking to prepare for competition. Trail rides, mounted games and grooming lessons round out the campers Equestrian education for the week, and they will demonstrate their new skills for friends and family members at our Camp Horse Show on Saturday. Every afternoon, the campers have an opportunity to swim at the school pool and enjoy the hot tub before showering and then its off to dinner! Overnight campers stay in our comfortable cabins and will play games and eat smores around the nightly campfires. Our meals are provided by Epicurean Cafe and the food is fabulous! Sumo Bots If you think one robot is interesting, wait until you see two of them battling for control Sumo-style. Students will build a Sumobot robot using VEX IQ platform and learn to program using sensors to build the strongest robot. Autonomous Sumobots try to locate and knock their opponent out of the ring while detecting the outside circle. Students will engage in robust design strategies while programming with sensors to create an autonomous robot. Robot wrestling match demonstrations will be held on the last day of the workshop. Championship football is built on FUNdamentals. This non-contact full day camp will offer a practice atmosphere while focusing on fundamentals and overall football safety for athletes preparing to play either flag or contact football. In addition to a team practice setting, daily individual teaching is provided for athletes to focus on their positions of choice. Afternoons will be filled with competitive Flag Football games and other fun team building activities. The camp is under the direction of Mark Modeste - Assistant Head Coach at Sacred Heart Prep. Create visual magic using an animation technique that is over 100 years old and continues to be used today in recent movies like Paranorman (2012) and Boxtrolls (2014). Animate objects, clay, and people by stringing together still images to create an illusion of movement using the Stop Motion Studio app. Students will need an email address in order to create a Dropbox account for Stop Motion Studio. iPads will be provided. Campers in grades 5-12 with all skill levels are welcomed to join the ASU hitting coaches and players as the program hosts weekly hitting camps. Dates camps will be held; 2/24 and 3/9 from 5:30-6:30. The 2015 Sun Devil Softball Hitting Camps are designed to develop softball hitting skills! This camp features hitting drills and instruction with campers offering the opportunity to take part in hitting rotations and instruction. Campers may be divided into groups by age. Each camper will receive 1 hour of instruction each night the camper attends. Meals will not be provided, so campers should pack adequate snacks and drinks. A break will be scheduled for hydration and nutrition. Camp is open to any and all campers that meet the grade requirements.
