3D Game Design Camp ( Ages 8 & up) - St. Johns Country Day School
Campers will learn the basics of 3D game design, including models, textures, volumes, lighting, and more as they create their game from start to finish. During camp, campers will use real game design principles as they design their game on the X, Y and Z axes to create an immersive 3D world. Theyll also learn to use our proprietary, age-appropriate game design software, OWL Game Creator, as they develop skills that will help them pursue game development at a professional level. Wk 3 • Pet Habitats for the Discerning Animal: Design Thinking - Kala Gallery and Classroom
If youve ever wanted to design a play jungle for hamsters, a four-story luxury dog house, or the coolest cat castle the world has ever seen, this class is for you! In this workshop, well use Design Thinking to research, invent, and prototype new solutions for happier pets. Come prepared to create, think about animals, and build a pet utopia! Instructor Bio: Rei Jackler is an Oakland arts educator, design teacher, writer, and maker nerd. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Stanford University, where she also trained in Design Thinking at the D.School. In Oakland, she is currently Makerspace Manager for the La Escuelita Elementary School Makerspace, and has also taught design with Chapter 510. Rei loves making of all kinds: knitting multi-colored scarves, writing fantastical short stories, and baking with a lot of chocolate. Week 3 PM - Fly Fishing - NESS
Come join NESS to learn about the fantastic sport of fly fishing. Saltwater fly fishing is used to target a variety of species available depending on the season. Striped bass and bluefish are local all summer, with the occasional transient like banded rudder fish and jack crevalle. Learn saltwater specific fly fishing techniques to fish your local waters. Gain experience in casting, tackle and fly selection, rigging, fish fighting and proper release techniques. This activity demands specific methods and large areas of space so enrollment is limited. Students should bring their own fishing rods and tackle ready for use. Some NESS rods are available and bait will be provided, please call to inquire.
