PICASSO (1.5 hrs) FRI 3:30-5:00 - Loudoun Arts Center
Teachers will focus on strengthening the students technique and improving technical skill. Once students are equipped with the appropriate skills, they will feel confident in transforming their ideas and personal style into tangible art pieces. Class Objective: Students will be provided tools to transform their concept sketches into fully fleshed out artistic creations. When equipped with appropriate skills, students will gain confidence and the ability to refine their execution. 703-444-5888
Canvas Painting (ages 5-7) M-F 1-4pm - Meadowlark Community Church
Canvas Painting (AGES 5-7 for the PM) Explore the colorful world of paint with teaching artist Deron Cohen (www.deroncohen.com). We will be making at least two paintings over these 5 days. Through step-by-step instruction and demonstration, students will learn how to break down an image into its most basic shapes and transfer those shapes onto the canvas. We will also explore the Imagination as students are guided through a creative process that encourages experimentation while also re-enforcing all of the previous techniques and skills developed. Time permitting, students will be encouraged to make another painting incorporating all the techniques learned throughout the week. Science in the City courses will activate campers imaginations as they are encouraged to invent, engage and explore. Using Chicago as a resource, campers will connect science activities with everyday life. See options for specific course offerings each week. LUNCH: Science in the City campers must bring their own peanut-free bag lunches and drinks each day. Refrigerated facilities are not provided. An insulated lunch box with an ice pack is recommended.
