Chess Wizards introduces students to the magical world of chess. Campers learn how to play and master chess techniques from our renowned Chess Wizards. They learn cool chess openings, midgame tactics (including forks, pins, discovered attacks and more) and endgames concepts. The camp caters to all levels of chess players, and participants are divided into Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Wizards. All participants receive a Chess Wizards t-shirt and earn a trophy. Bring lawn chairs to relax in. This will be our final Kids Gun Safety Class this season. Ages 5-17. We have found that this is a great learning experience for parents and children alike. We are working with the local law enforcement community to have officers, equipment and K9's available for demonstration. Children will be shooting .22 and 9mm pistols as well as .22 rifles. An instructor will be with the children to assist in holding. Please confirm in the discussion thread if you are coming. Donations of cash or ammo will be accepted at the registration table but are not mandatory for attendance. All donations go to future children's classes. Teen Freethought Workshop 2016 - Minneapolis Central Library
During Camp Quest Minnesotas Teen Freethought Workshop, participants ages 13 to 18 will engage in Socrates Cafe, open discussion, community building, and ethics activities with topics chosen by the participants themselves. A light snack or fresh fruit will be provided. 651-300-2267
Curtains (A Broadway Musical Whodunnit)- 4 weeks - The Georgetown Palace Theatre
Newly licensed for teen productions, Curtains is a musical send-up of backstage murder mysteries set in the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959 where Bostons Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical, Robbin Hood of the Old West. The show follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of the show is murdered during her opening night curtain call and the entire cast and crew are immediately suspects. It is up to Lt. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan to save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself. This Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee is filled with Broadway favorites like "What Kind of Man?", "The Womans Dead," and "Show People." Instructor: Roger Finch This course is for students who want to weld steel that is 1/8 inch thick and up. At their own workstation, the students will learn M.I.G. Welding, Torch Brazing and Plasma cutting. These skills can be used to create anything from Garden Art to building a utility trailer. Each class will include theory, demonstration, and individual hands-on instruction. All basic supplies, including the Welders Manual by Roger Finch and the Victor Welding Guide are included in the materials fee and supplied on Class #1.
