MPS Summer Music Institute grades 3-5 - Off-Site
MPS Summer Music Institute June 20-July 1, 9am-12pm (Monday-Friday both weeks) Grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 Drop-off and Pick-up: Milwaukee High School of the Arts Refine your skills, get a jump start for next school year, or figure out which instrument is for you at this two-week camp, supported by the MPS Partnership for the Arts and Humanities. Grades 3-5: Explore a variety of instruments and musical styles and participate in your first large ensemble. No musical experience required. Our program is strategically designed to engage children in various activities that enable them to apply their verbal, written, and comprehension skills in French while having oodles of fun! Under the guidance of French speaking teachers, your children participate in various recreational, creative, educational, and academic activities in French. The enriching environment provides an ideal condition for your child to learn/continue with the French language throughout the summer. The ISB Summer Camp fits the needs of both non-French and French speakers. Non-French speakers benefit from the language immersion while French speakers enhance their language skills in an extra-scholastic environment. Camp Day Activities Children cultivate their French language skills by participating in a wide array of activities created to encourage physical well-being and summer learning. Showtunes: Sing and Dance (August 15) - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
One of the most difficult aspects of musical theatre is being able to sing and dance at the same time. This camp will help to develop this ability. Working hard to prepare a selection of show tunes for a live performance will give the campers quality experience and better prepare them to participate in musicals at school and in the community. Campers will perform in large and small groups while also allowing each child to take the spotlight with a singing or dance solo within the group numbers. This is an opportunity for your child to build a talent that many young performers struggle with. INSTRUCTOR MICHAEL PAGE has been teaching theater for 8 years and has been choreographing in local community theaters for the past 10 years. He recently received a BA in Theater and Dance from Christopher Newport University. He currently works as a Music and Movement Teacher at VHBC Preschool as well as teaches classes at LTA, Mount Vernon REC Center, and Browne Academy. He teaches private acting, dancing, and guitar lessons from his home.
