LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Famous Characters & Scene Study - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
This class is designed for 3rd-5th grade students. The fun continues! For interested students with some acting experience. Well explore changing our voices and bodies to represent different characters from favorite and familiar stories like the Harry Potter series, The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Secret Garden...perhaps well travel to Narnia. Students will get to stretch their wings a bit each week doing dramatic readings. Well include some fun theatre games and improv activities too! At the final class parents will be invited to a staged presentation. INSTRUCTOR ROBERTA MASTER-CULLEN has been teaching childrens classes and camps at the Little Theatre for seven years. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild specializing in radio and television voiceovers, and has been a television news anchor and reporter. What If a Child Can’t Swim?
Parents do not have to worry if their children cannot swim. There are many safety precautions in place to protect youth. For example, qualified lifeguards certified in CPR and First Aid are always on duty to make sure that children are safe when swimming. Additionally, the summer program will assess all kids’ swimming abilities. There are instructors on site that can help interested youth improve their swimming skills or learn to swim. Shakespeare Summer Camp - Pensacola, FL
It's a mystery of Shakespearean proportions as this year’s campers create a whodunit from the ground up using Shakespearean characters, plots, intrigue, dialogue, and combat. Each camper will get to choose a Shakespearean character to play, agree on a Shakespearean murder victim, and help write and perform an original play using Shakespearean themes. Campers will learn about the plays, acting, and stage combat in this week-long experience that culminates in a live performance! SETSCO will provide everything except underwear, shoes, and lunch. By completing this camper packet, parents are acknowledging and agreeing to the following. Goochland County Parks, Recreation & Facilities Expectations for Summer Camps 1. Participants, their parents, and Parks, Recreation & Facilities staff are to be respectful to each other at all times. 2. Camper Information sheet must be completed and turned into Recreation Division by childs first day of camp. 3. All registrants must conduct themselves in a way in which they do not endanger their own safety or the safety of others. 4. Review and abide by the Departments guidelines for discipline. 5. The parent and/or guardian must provide or arrange for necessary transportation for their children both to and from the program sites. 6. Beginning and Advanced Sewing with Machines - The Evergreen School
Children can spend their week learning to sew or improving their sewing skills. A sewing machine will be provided for each student to use during class. Beginning students will start with a tote bag and pencil pouch. Advanced students will be able to choose what they would like to make from different patterns presented.
