Join the Krewe of Chewbacchus this December break for Winter Parade Camp! Our winter campers learn about the history of Mardi Gras traditions in New Orleans and around the world. They create costumes and throws, and build their own shoebox float. At the end of the week, we throw an awesome parade and party with our Chewbacchus kids and families. Arts in the Park - Norwood Local Park
You will create lots of cool artwork inspired by the great outdoors in this beautiful setting. Artwork may include paper mache, mobiles, sculptures from natural and recycled materials, mosaics, painting in the style of famous artists, collage and lots more! Play lots of games, sports and explore the park. On Wed campers walk to the Bethesda pool adjacent to the park. Campers must pass a swimming test or stay in the shallow end. Bring a bag lunch. There will be a $25 dollar material fee due the first day. Get ready to figure out the why, how and wow of computer programming in this interactive coding camp! The camp explores many aspects of gaming, both on and off the computer. Using MITs Scratch computer language, kids learn how to program their very own unique games and animations. In addition, campers apply problem-solving strategies to create offline, traditional games such as checkers, labyrinth, and the electrified board game "Operation"! All camper projects are theirs for the taking, whether its a computer program uploaded to MITs website or an original board game to be played at home with friends. Using LEGOs New EV3 Space challenge Set and Activity Pack, campers are introduced to robotics with a very current and real-world theme-traveling and living on Mars! Campers will work as scientists and engineers as they progress though a set of lessons, challenges, and projects that fully integrate science, technology, engineering, and math concepts while prompting creative problem solving, communication, and teamwork. Campers will learn the basics of gears to help them apply physical science and math principles to build effective robots. They will also progress through a series of missions in which they investigate, observe, calculate, and apply their knowledge to solve specific tasks.
