Camp Shalom, established in 1954, is the oldest and largest day camp in Dane County and is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Madison. Camp Shalom is for campers going into grades K-5 and Camp Shalom Noar-Bogrim, a hybrid of Camp Shalom Noar and Camp Shalom Bogrim, is for campers going into grades 6-9. Camp Shalom and Camp Shalom Noar-Bogrim serve over 1000 children throughout the summer and is located at the beautiful Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Jewish Community Campus in Verona. Survival Skills Overnight Campout - Connolly Ranch
Here is a chance for outdoorsy, nature-loving youth ages 9-13 to sleep under the stars at Connolly Ranch. With old friends and new, campers will enjoy practicing basic survival skills, foraging for food and learning how to cook over an open fire. The evening includes a night hike, star gazing, smores-making and storytelling around the fire. Dinner and breakfast included. Campers bring their own camping gear. 707-224-1894
Rookie Sports Camp - Session 3 - Takoma Park Community Center
Have the little ones join us for a week of unique activities including T-ball, soccer, bowling, kickball, relays and more exciting daily events. Sessions take place in a safe, structured environment and sports are played through a series of games and activities. All the sports promote hand eye coordination, motor skills, group participation and communication skills. All participants must wear sneakers and dress appropriately. Paperwork will need to be submitted prior to the first day of camp. Through observation and inquiry, students explore the Nature around them. In this session we take the children through nature trails and begin our journey with a trees parts and the role each part plays in a trees life cycle. After observing patterns in nature, students create their own design project that will reinforce the lesson learned. What makes a bird a bird? To find out, students go on a picturesque bird walk and use binoculars to observe birds closely. They comb the environment to investigate artifacts like feathers, feet, and skulls to discover how different birds learn to adapt and thrive in their special niches. A hands-on art project helps to reinforce this avian adventure. Through simple scientific observation and physical exploration, students investigate the nature of seeds, their role in the cycle of life, and interesting ways that they adapt, survive, and thrive in their environment. Students dissect seeds and then create their own seed mosaic. They learn about the lifecycles of bees and the role they play in pollination.
