Join us for six days full of dancing, music, crafts, swimming, games, storytelling, and too much fun…at Foothill Horizons Outdoor School near Sonora, CA. For those who haven’t been before, Family Week often takes some explaining. It’s not a “kids’ camp” or a “sleepaway camp”: it’s for the entire family. We share traditional camp accommodations: several families per bunkhouse, and everyone eats community style. During the morning, kids take classes in community dance, English team dance, and art, while parents are free to come dance, play music, sing, or simply relax. After lunch, families come back together, for swimming, jamming, playing games, and a series of great classes for all. During the week of camp, a community like no other grows, culminating in a demo day when everyone shows each other what we’ve been doing. Every evening, we come together to dance. While the family is the basic unit at camp, it’s pretty loosely defined: traditional parents and kids, aunts and uncles with nieces and nephews, or grandparents with their grandchildren. This camp focuses on developing friendships and working as a team. Campers will gain an understanding of the importance of self-esteem and respect.
