Anti-Bullying Summer Camp - Santa Monica, CA
Anyone who watches the news regularly can tell you that bullying is an epidemic that has infected the learning experience for so many kids in schools that it must be taken seriously. Bullying can no longer be seen as a possibility, but an unfortunate eventuality. Relying on empathetic bystanders to step up in defense of bullied children is a wonderful idea, but it can be unreliable when a child is left to fend for themselves. So why not plant the seeds of self-confidence in your kids that upstanders have? What is an Upstander? An Upstander is someone who Stands Up for themselves or others when a bullying incident occurs. Most of them already possess empathy and courage, but aren't always equipped to handle the physical or emotional repercussions of their heroism. Dojo2go.com's Anti-Bullying Camp teaches martial arts-based protocols that begin with assertive verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Their words, voices and postures are used to establish a barrier to any unwanted invasion of their personal space. Our protocols emphasize age-appropriate and aggression-appropriate self-defense techniques so that kids first learn how to defend themselves without having to strike or kick. Daily role play of different bullying scenarios not...

The wrestlers will have a designated coordinator from our Gold Medal Staff who will monitor each instructional session to review and expand upon the curriculum with each student. The wrestlers will be divided by age and experience as needed so that each wrestler is able to focus on the technical skills and tactics that they most need to improve upon. The base curriculum as designed by Coach Chertow will be comprised of the highest percentage techniques in wrestling, and they will be presented in a systematic fashion with emphasis on the finer teaching points. In addition to not only learning, but retaining a highly effective system of wrestling, Personalized Technique Camp Students will get to choose specific areas in which to receive advanced instruction.
