The Coding Champions will strive to understand the fundamentals of coding (such as sequences, conditionals, loops, etc.) so that we can solve challenging puzzles, create animated plays, and maybe even invent a game or app. Every potential coder sits somewhere on his/her path to coding glory. For the Coding Champions, practice makes progress, not perfection. And we, a resilient bunch, like it that way. Early drop off is available at no additional cost from 8:00am-9:00am. Have fun reading a required summer reading book in a group setting. With the use of a variety of reading strategies, the course covers the reading of Number the Stars Students are asked to purchase the novel prior to the first class. All students should read the first two chapters of the book they are assigned before June 20th. Additional reading at home will be required. Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm Pick-up begins: 8:45am Drop-off ends: 4:15pm Girls will design and build furniture projects for the Womens Daytime Drop-In Center, a local safe haven which offers free services to homeless women and their children. Along the way, girls will learn skills in woodworking, welding, fabrication, and masonry to design a meaningful project for their community, to work in multiple materials, and bring ideas to life. Please note: Week 1 and 2 will offer the same content. Please enroll in only one. Snacks will be provided. Full lunch option is available at an additional $25 cost. Enrollment is limited to 20 girls. We will be offering diving class to ages 6 to 18 years of age. The only requirement is that you are able to swim 25-yards of the pool and tread water for 1 minute in water over their heads. Basic diving skills and safety will be taught from the side of the pool and on two 1 - meter boards. Each child will progress at their own rate, beginning with essential techniques, while working on strength, flexibility and mechanics.
