Kid's Summer Clay Camp - San Pedro, CA
CLAY CAMP - 3 days Monday, June 20th, Tuesday June 21st and Monday June 27th, 2016 8:30am - 12:30pm at Seaside Studios San Pedro Projects will include making fairy/troll habitats for the garden! The first 2 days in camp we will be forming our projects utilizing basic hand building techniques such as coil, slab and pinch pot techniques. The 3rd day (Monday of the following week) will be for glazing the piece with the goal of having a finished fired piece by end of the mixed arts camp July 1st. Kid's clay camp is recommended for kids between the ages of 7 and 13 years of age. Clay camp is $85 per child per session. It is highly recomended to do both clay and mixed arts camps if possible as they tie in nicely together. Enroll in both Clay camp and Mixed arts camp for the best value $175 (clay camp is Monday and Tuesday June 20th, 21st and Mon 6/27 from 8:30am - 12:30pm) Early registration discount is $10 off if you enroll your child by June 15th, 2016 Ask us about sibling discounts. A How-To Musical Guide to the Most Daring, Dangerous, Exciting Time ... Like ... Ever! Composers: John Jacobson, Mac Huff A massive electromagnetic attack from outer space has jammed all technical systems, and there is no electricity, no cell phones, no laptops – NO FUN! The kids are in a panic and don't know what to do, until Grandma arrives on the scene and introduce them to a day filled with daring and adventure, music and imagination – all without fancy gadgets! This creative 35-minute musical appropriate for all ages features seven original songs, choreography, and terrific acting! Admission is by donation and perfect for the whole family to attend.

While some of these programs do provide valuable advice, most of them are filled with poor choices that, if followed, will get you injured or killed in a real emergency. Without proper training, separating the fact from fiction can be a difficult task. Our primary focus this week is to teach participants the practical skills that will save them in a true emergency. While a number of Traditional Skills will be introduced, our goal this week is to provide participants with a pragmatic skill set. For instance, spending five hours building a lean-to when it gets dark in 20 minutes is not a practical choice. Trying to build a bow-drill fire kit from scratch without a knife and without properly seasoned wood in the damp environment of the Pacific Northwest is rarely practical. Although those types of skills will be demonstrated, we will challenge you to perfect the basics first – like carrying a small fire steel and a couple of cotton balls...

Take the stage and perform with cordless mics under the LED and laser lights! We will learn choreography and vocals to a medley of songs and put on a performance at the end of camp.
