If youve ever wanted to design a play jungle for hamsters, a four-story luxury dog house, or the coolest cat castle the world has ever seen, this class is for you! In this workshop, well use Design Thinking to research, invent, and prototype new solutions for happier pets. Come prepared to create, think about animals, and build a pet utopia! Instructor Bio: Rei Jackler is an Oakland arts educator, design teacher, writer, and maker nerd. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Stanford University, where she also trained in Design Thinking at the D.School. In Oakland, she is currently Makerspace Manager for the La Escuelita Elementary School Makerspace, and has also taught design with Chapter 510. Rei loves making of all kinds: knitting multi-colored scarves, writing fantastical short stories, and baking with a lot of chocolate. Teen Prayer Conference is for any students in grades 7-12. Kid's Campout with the Prickly Pear Living History Museum - San Antoni
Do you want to help your kids build a connection to nature, but aren’t sure how? Do you struggle to get them away from screens? On March 19th and 20th Government Canyon State Natural Area and the Prickly Pear Living History Museum will be co-hosting a camping event for kids ages 10-16 and their parents. No screens allowed, but no one will be bored. Instead, we’ll talk about how local Native Americans survived and thrived in the same places we now call our home. For hands-on learning we’ll have reproduction tools, weapons, and natural resources for everyone to explore. Along the way, kids discover how to be hike leaders and why it’s important to be good caretakers of the land. We’ll provide most of the equipment. Maximum of two kids and two adults per group, so that more kids can enjoy the experience. Space is limited to 12 people. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED! Our last event filled up fast. Villa-Parke Camp Group A 6th week Jul 18 - Jul 22 - City of Pasadena
This activity may not be registered for individually because it is part of a package.S.T.E.A.M. into fun with this innovative and dynamic summer camp. Villa-Parke Enrichment Camp creates an exciting learning environment that explores the five core concepts of the S.T.E.A.M. curriculum: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Each weeks activities are based on a theme. For example, during Space Exploration Week, campers may take a field trip to the Griffith Observatory, base their art projects around the solar system, do astronaut training activities for fitness and learn space themed vocabulary in Spanish. Campers do wacky science experiments, explore technology and mathematics through Lego(R) robotics in the computer lab, complete engineering challenges and attend language lessons including American Sign Language and Spanish. The camp also incorporates traditional camp arts and crafts activities like painting, drawing and beadwork, as well as ceramics instruction and the use of pottery wheels. Daily activities include at least 90 minutes of high-energy physical fitness. Specialized sports instruction is offered for both tennis and golf. Campers participate in recreational swim two times per week. Camp counselors go into the water with the campers and well-trained, certified lifeguards are always present. Summer Camp - Week #2 Outdoor Explorers Adventure is out there! At least thats what my friend Russell told me. This week will be full of fun outdoor activities! Learn how to use a compass to find treasure, build the perfect campfire, and make some awesome crafts from items found in the great outdoors. We will head to the St. Louis Zoo for our field trip, and supply food for our fantastic food Friday! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are paying a deposit of $20 to reserve your week, the remainder of the payment will automatically set to be deducted from your credit card the Monday of the week before the camp begins. All meals provided during Thursday overnight experience. Adventure Academy summer camp is open to children ages 7-14. We strive to ensure that each child leaves camp with long-lasting memories of adventure, discovery and friendship. We provide a safe environment in which to have new experiences, gain an appreciation for the outdoors and develop leadership skills and abilities. Our 10:1 camper to counselor ratio ensures a quality experience for each child. Adventure Academy takes place on Camp Mary Ortons 167 wooded acres, bordered by the Olentangy River. A two week youth tennis camp! Participants will participate for 60 min each day for 10 days (Monday-Friday). Camp is organized by ages AND physical/skill level. Register your child in the group that seems most appropriate. Pre-register for a 2:15pm audition time for Peninsula Youth Theatres CENTERSTAGE production of "SEUSSICAL." Registration guarantees you a spot in the 2:15pm audition group. You must be age 8-18 or have prior executive director approval. Children must be 8 by 3/17/16 to participate. PLEASE NOTE: TO KEEP YOUR SPOT you must arrive by 1:45pm with your paperwork completed for check in and measurements. If you have not arrived by 2:00pm your spot will be given to someone on the waiting list and you will be moved to the next available audition slot. We cannot guarantee that that will be the next audition group.
