LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Mountain Biking Camp - Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission
Trying to find something new and challenging for your child this summer? This week long Mountain biking camp will offer kids a great opportunity to explore the great outdoors and challenge themselves while learning fun, new cycling skills that they can use for years to come. We will explore great trails in and around the eastern panhandle, where the kids will learn how to climb, descend, and maneuver on rough and technical terrain. This sport is not only physical but fun too. Campers will need to provide an appropriate bike*, helmet, and wear appropriate clothes and footwear. Campers will also need to bring a bag lunch and plenty of water. On Friday, June 17th, there will be a bike check from 5-7pm at the Jefferson County Community Center for those enrolled in camp to make sure their bike and equipment are safe for camp. Children will take Jefferson County School buses to a different location each day during the week. Locations will include, Poorhouse Farm, Cacapon State Park, Greenbrier State Park and FLOC. Flippin' Fall Fest Girls Competitive Gymnastics Camp - Fargo, ND
Flippin' Fall Fest is geared towards girl competitive gymnasts of all levels, and features small group sizes to facilitate focused, intense, and personalized training. The camp curriculum features two daily workouts totaling approximately 9 hours. The workouts are designed for systematic progression according to individual ability. Campers spend the sessions attending workouts at TNT Kid's Fitness & Gymnastics. COST: $175 - includes snack and leotard. PAYMENT: $75 deposit due when registering. Full camp payment is due October 21 at check in. REFUND POLICY: The camp fee is non- refundable after September 23, without a physician’s statement. Any refunds given with a physician's statement will be subject to a cancellation fee of $75 of the registration fee to cover expenses already incurred. Field hockey camp combines fundamental skill work, scrimmage play and fun games to stimulate a love for the game and accelerate the athletes progress and success. AIT (Aide in Training - Girls entering grades 7-8 who have not completed AIT training) - Huddart Park
Girls entering grades 7-8 in fall 2016 are encouraged to take part in our leadership training program. This culminates in a completion ceremony on the Tuesday overnight, which all girls are encouraged to attend. The AITS are still considered campers and spend their time preparing for their future roles as program Aides the following year (entering 8th grade). It is necessary that girls registering as AITS are able to attend camp the entire two weeks of the program. The administrative team is continually striving to provide all of our campers an excellent camp experience. Well-trained Aides are critical to this goal! Please note, girls must attend camp all days to complete the AIT program. Girls who were AITs last year but did not attend all days of camp must register as an AIT again this year. **PLEASE NOTE – The AIT unit will be filled to a maximum enrollment of 60 based on the criteria of the Admission Policy. This camp is an all-encompassing program specifically designed for the more serious soccer player. The focus here will be to challenge each individual to transfer what they have learned in the morning skill sessions and the afternoon small group tactics into the competitive full-field evening games. You will play on the same fields that the University of Maryland Mens Soccer Team utilizes.
