Rise Up Florida High School Retreat November 6-8, 2015 Word of Life Retreat Center Hudson, Florida Join us as we welcome the band Lost & Found to join us for Rise Up Florida as one of their last stops on their farewell tour. This event is for both those who attended the Gathering and for those who were not able to attend. It will equip and re-ignite those who were at the Gathering to "bring the Gathering home" and to provide a feel of the Gathering to those who were not able to be there. Utilizing some of the resources, video and music from the Gathering and adding in some of our own, we will encourage youth to examine their story and the story of their community and congregation and to explore how God might be calling them to tell His story and affect change where they see injustice. Baby Crow Teen Theatre Camp is a 5 day advanced theatre camp taught by members of NYC theatre company, Baby Crow Productions. The camp runs from July 5th-July 9th from 10am-5pm at 113 W. Lexington on the Independence Square. Tuition is $150 for the whole week. Campers will work with professional teaching artists to develop skills. This summer we offer specialty classes in areas such as, vocal performance, acting, musical theatre, dance, audition technique, and much more! Each class is taught by NYC working professionals and teaching artists from Baby Crow Productions. In addition to a traditional approach to training, our camp will provide campers with the experience of creating their own original work. At the end of the week, campers will have the ability to showcase what they have worked on at a performance for their invited guests. Nutmeg Potters with Alice Chittenden (Ages 12-17) - Young People
A number of our projects this week will be inspired by the natural world that surrounds us in Connecticut, the Nutmeg State. The seashore, woods and fields of our state lend themselves to three-dimensional and decorative applications. Some of the things I have planned are bird feeders, bug mugs and fancy fish sculptures. Flowers, leaves and animals can adorn our wheel thrown pots. You will have some time to work on your own ideas. There will be outdoor sketching, glazing and painting. Fishing for Families - Ned Smith Center for Nature & Art
Join us for a great day of aquatic adventures at the Ned Smith Center! Families are invited to share the joy of fishing with your up-and-coming anglers, while learning about the complex environment of the Wiconisco Creek. Ample time will be dedicated to casting instruction and practice, as well as fishing along the creek. Equipment is provided. All participants must wear closed-toe, hard soled shoes that can get wet. Each child will receive a spin cast reel and rod at the conclusion of the day. Thanks to our program partners Bass Pro Shops, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and Doc Fritchey Chapter of Trout Unlimited, we are able to offer this camp at a reduced fee. Children through young adults with HFA/Aspergers Syndrome have the opportunity to explore the art of improv, drama, and music with their peers. Drama Club is directed by a drama professional and music therapist who have extensive experience working with children and adults on the spectrum.This group provides participants with the opportunity to improve their communication skills within a small group or in front of a larger audience. Research has shown that children who participate in Drama/Acting activities improve their ability to react and respond to imaginary situations and feelings and eventually generalize these skills into their daily living. This is the official youth baseball/softball camp of the Milwaukee Brewers. In addition to 30 hours of professional-grade instruction, each camper will receive a full uniform, four tickets to a Brewers game, and a VIP Miller Park experience that will include meeting a current player. He/she will also participate in the Brewers Skills Competition with the top scorers competing on Champions Day at Miller Park. Camp is open to boys and girls ages 6-14 and runs M-F from 9am to 3pm. 2016 will be the fourth year of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Academy. The Academy has earned the reputation as one of the finest baseball/softball camps in America. There is a family and friends discount available.
