Nathan Benderson Park's Youth Aquatics Holiday Camp gives your child the opportunity to learn on the lake! Campers will learn to kayak, row, dragon boat, stand up paddleboard, RC sailboat control, and powerboat safety. 3 sessions are offered to meet the needs of your family: Week 1: December 19 - 22 Week 2: December 27 - 30 Week 3: January 3 - 6 Camp runs from 9AM to noon each day Ages 10 to 18 $120 for a one week session (Before and after care are available for an additional fee) Each day your child will receive morning instruction on land before going on the water. Summer Strength and Speed Training Girls - 9th-12th grades - Wichita Collegiate School
Instructor: Black All classes will be taught in the state of the art Lattner Center located on the west side of the Upper School. Some sessions will take place on the turf or track at Spartan Stadium located just to the east of the Beren Middle School. The summer staff of Troy Black, Mike Gehrer, Destiny Clark, Cam Clark, and other staff as needed have many years of proven experience and knowledge. The curriculum and techniques like the training center are state of the art and are presented in a positive uplifting environment. Each session has a curriculum molded to the skill sets and abilities of the students. Strength and Speed - For the 6th year, we will be offering a class that is designed for the female athlete. Female athletes need to work on their strength and speed just like the males. The focus of the program will be on developing overall body strength, learning proper lifting technique, improved jumping ability, agility, speed improvement, and core strength. A variety of exercises and drills will be used over the 8-week program. The participants age, experience, and limitations will be used when designing the participants workouts. This 3 week workshop puts an in depth focus on the skills needed to succeed in theatre and performance. History Comes Alive with Classical Theater - Wizard of Oz - Location: Center for The Creative Arts
This is a truly unique course especially designed for the home-schooled that incorporates history, literature, and performance. This classic novel/play will be interpreted and performed as students discuss the playwright and the time in which the author lived. History comes alive as students also create living portraits of imaginary and real characters during that period of history. The Wizard of Oz is a beloved classic. A cyclone carries Dorothy and her dog, Toto, to the magical land of Oz, where they encounter all the famous characters from the pen of L. Frank Baum... Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Woodsman, the rubber-legged Scarecrow, Glinda the Good Witch, Oz, Munchkins, Winged Monkeys, The Witch of the North, and the evil Witch of the West, who is determined to destroy Dorothy and steal the secret of her magical slippers.
