Under the expert instruction of Courcy Magnus and the talented Obvious Choice coaching team, Basketball Club participants will hone essential skills, such as shooting, passing, dribbling and defense. Game concepts, including identifying opponents strengths and weaknesses and understanding basic defensive strategies, will also be incorporated. Ever wanted to learn how to create your own mobile app? Well here is your chance with App Creation and with Lafayettes Tech Coordinator, Mr. Wieand! Students will begin by learning some basics of computer science and block coding. As students develop skills we will begin using MITs App Inventor 2 to create apps compatible with Android devices. *This class is for ALL students age 4-6 in both Preschool and Kindergarten. Kindergarteners have an opportunity to further develop their drawing skills before entering our hour-long KidzArt IMAGINE! class. Instruction is modified for each childs abilities. Limited to 8 students.* Learning about art and how to draw is like learning a new language with KidzArt DISCOVER! The ‘language of art begins with the recognition of lines and shapes. We show students how these lines and shapes can fit together to create a complete whole. Then we introduce them to the tools to do it for themselves. Much of DISCOVER! centers around teaching our young students to slow down, to focus, and to see how the world around them is put together. They learn how they can create recognizable forms from the ‘language of art they are learning. Audition-Only College Level Teen Acting Intensive with Special Guest Instructors - Arts Effect Downtown
** PLEASE NOTE: You must audition and be accepted into this class BEFORE you register. This college-level acting workshop lead by Katie Cappiello and Meg McInerney along with Tisch School of The Arts faculty guests will focus on intense scene study and character development. Students will be challenged by advanced sense memory, improvisation, and text analysis exercises as they prepare scenes to be presented at the end of the workshop. Students will be assigned and emailed a scene prior to the workshop. This 5-day master class will require students to not only work in class on their pieces but also independently with scene partners outside of class – as they would in any theater arts college program.
