LATEST CAMPS NEWS: Kayak Fishing Camp - Week 5 - The Greenwell Foundation
Kayak Fishing Camp is for children ages 8 – 12 (by first day of camp session). This camp combines two of the favorite activities at camp – kayaking and fishing! The week begins with a lesson on the water learning kayaking skills with a certified instructor. The campers will then have two opportunities during the week to be on the water, combining these two skills – and hopefully catch some fish! With help from a member of the Maryland Saltwater Sport fishing Association (MSSA), campers will have on-land instruction learning how to tie lures, cast a line and what fish can be found in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Friday, the campers get to choose if they want to fish or go crabbing from the boat launch or fish from a kayak. In addition to all the fishing and kayaking, campers will also have the opportunity to do archery, field games, crafts and get wet with water games. Each afternoon, campers are provided an afternoon snack and each week a chance to make Smores. The week ends with Tye-Dye Friday for a take-home memory of the week at camp. The Details! Session 9 - Camp Half Blood
Camp Half-Blood is offered in one-week sessions to boys and girls ages 7 through 12. Each session pulls its theme from a different Greek Myth. Using storytelling, live action role play and physically and mentally engaging activities, campers work with their friends to develop new skills, solve problems and create summer memories that will last a lifetime. Demi-Gods will learn archery, sword-fighting, forging, story-making, myth-writing, and create greek-inspired crafts. All of which theyll need in their weekly (quests) to find and defeat the ancient monsters that roam the hills and paths of our Prospect Park campsite. Camp Half-Blood is open to demi-Gods ages 7-12. Our drop-off and pick-up location is at the 9th Street and Prospect Park West entrance to Prospect Park. Afternoon: Pirates with a Purpose Robotics have taken over the Pirate world. Well-seasoned students and crew design robots ready for adventures and excitement. The life of the pirate is searching for hidden treasure, protecting your gold and stealing others prized possessions. Can your pirate crew steal the other crews treasure and return it to your cove? Maneuverable robots will be tested as they race against the clock and other pirates. Variations of Capture the Flag, Race Against Time, Obstacle/Maneuverability Courses all out Pirate Wars will be held with a robotic spin. Come for the treasure… Stay to watch losing pirates walk the plank. Campers aged 11-12 visit TAC daily, for project-based classes inspired by their weekly field trip to a current textile related exhibition in New York.
