Kid's Jiu Jitsu Camp - New Bern, NC
Our Jiu-Jitsu camp will arm your child with a host of positive mental and physical skills that will help him/her in school, at home and in life! As your child will learn to succeed, you’ll see a new kind of discipline emerging… the kind that will positively affect all areas of his or her life. You’ll notice an increased respect for others, and most importantly, for him / herself. This kind of powerful mind/body connection will make them unstoppable when faced with difficulties in life. Watch your child’s energy, confidence, and spirit rise while he or she becomes strong and confident. We’re not just talking about physical strength, but the kind of strength it takes to resist peer pressure and other negative aspects of life. Jiu-Jitsu is a non-striking self-defense martial art system based on leverage and control over the opponent. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is considered to be one of the best self defenses for kids and adults since it’s applied in response to physical aggression, so there’s no need to worry about your child becoming violent. Details: Begins: 01 December 2016 Ends: 29 December 2016 Camp is available (4) days a week beginning at 6:30pm and ending at 7:30pm Monday-Thursday. Ages: 5-15 Children with disabilites are...

Reading & Reacting Camp - Jay Lively Ice Arena
Reading & Reacting Camp Reading and reacting is one of the most important aspects of the game of hockey. Each player must be able to read what is happening, anticipate correctly, and react properly by moving to the appropriate space to make the play or support their teammates in advance of the puck. As we sat, it is much easier to anticipate where the puck will be, and go to a particular point in the rink ahead of it, than it is to chase it around. In this camp, we will cover the correct diagnosis, and response needed, for game situations such as cycling, odd man rushes (both for and against), power play and penalty kill, movement through the neutral zone, defensive zone coverage, offensive zone coverage, face offs, playing away from the puck, offensive and defensive play at the puck, back-checking and fore-checking. ATTENTION GOALTENDERS - Every RMHS camp will offer professional goaltending instruction from one of our professional goaltending coaches. We limit theses spots to four goaltenders per group. Schedules subject to change due to registration levels up to one week before the first day of camp 8778487647.0
READING ENRICHMENT: June - Dunavant Upper School

These students will be exempt from the summer reading tests required of all other students in the fall, and the students will earn quarter points in the following way: B to A (85-100) = +3 C to B (75-85) = +2 C- to C (70-74) = -2 F to D (0-69) = -6 Students should purchase these three books before the class begins: "A Wizard of Earthsea", Le Guin (HMH Books for Young Readers: 978-0547773742) "The Golden Compass", Pullman (Yearling: 978-0440418320) "MAUS II", Spiegelman (Pantheon: 978-0679729778) 901-260-1300
