Music will be provided by the awesome cover band, Greyduck with Chelsea Csargo on the vocals who is a former camper, staff member, and current volunteer. This event is a special night to donate money to future campers. February Visit & Info Session - Wheatley Heights, NY
A Usdan Visit and Information Session is an excellent way to learn about our many summer programs and what makes them both fun and educational. We begin with a guided walk through campus, introducing the music, art, dance, theater, writing, chess, nature and recreation departments. Our administrative leadership will share a few ideas about what shapes the Usdan program, from where we draw our inspiration, and what makes a summer at Usdan unlike any other. We will explain the enrollment process, and you will be given a chance to talk in small groups, or individually, with our knowledgeable team of arts faculty and staff members. We end the visit with a self-guided walk and exploration of the grounds. Nasimco Youth Leadership Retreat 2016 - Fruitland Park, FL
NASIMCO is pleased to announce the 2016 Youth Leadership Retreat with the theme of “Thinking Outside the Box: Making Your Voice Count!” This year the retreat will be held in sunny Orlando, Florida. It is an initiative led by youth with the vision of creating a forum for dialogue to enhance the ability of participants to think outside the box, engage in self-reflection, become socially conscious and have the confidence to act upon it in their local and global communities. This year’s retreat is hosted by the Husseini Islamic Center of Florida, INC. at the Warren W. Willis United Methodist Camp in sunny Fruitland Park, Florida. The retreat will combine facilitated workshops, debates, dialogue and recreational activities in order to optimize learning opportunities for all participants. It will take place during the Labour Day weekend, from September 2nd to September 5th, 2016. The intended participants are all youth ages 18 to 25. This program is designed for not just those who love horses, but also for campers who would like an introduction to horses. Campers will learn the basics of horse care and horsemanship in a positive and encouraging environment. By helping care for the horses, campers will get a chance to truly care for Gods great creation. Along with riding horses, campers will enjoy all of the traditional camp programs. 1st Session - Yoga For Kids - YSCP
Marlena Vendemia - Bio Marlena Vendemia worked in the corporate fitness setting before earning her M.S. in Exercise Physiology from The Pennsylvania State University. She currently holds a position as a Penn State fitness instructor working with pregnant women as part of the Healthy Moms Research Study. Most recently, Marlena earned her 200-hour registered yoga teacher certification. She found her yoga practice as a stay at home mother to her two small children. Marlena was drawn to pursue this certification due to the benefits she found through her own yoga practice. Her yoga practice has allowed her to find space, connection and possibility through the physical experience, things she hopes to help other students find as well. Her goal is to bring classes filled with truth, authenticity, love and fun to the State College community. In addition to teaching yoga at The PYP Studio, State College, Marlena also serves on the school board for Our Lady of Victory Preschool and on the advisory board for Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, University Park Campus. Bio: Carol Pharo, Harry Potter Drama Club instructor, first explored the adventures of Harry Potter with her drama students at the International School of Amsterdam. Other themes included The Sound of Music, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and The Hobbit (with original music). She has continued working with these favorites in Centre County where she has also directed all-children casts for the operas Amahl and the Night Visitors, LOrfeo, and a ballet version of Winnie the Pooh. Ms. Pharo has taught at the Arts Conservatory, the Joan Kennedy Dance Center, The Music Academy, and the Academy of the Performing Arts. The Harry Potter Drama Club, for grades 3-8, is a young actors training, drawing upon the adventures of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. This drama class will emphasize variety in vocal expressions and timing along with effective posture and gesture. There are parts for everyone, and favorite parts are continually switched, so that everyone has the opportunity to play the character of his/her dreams!
