I have very fond memories of my own summer camp experiences and wanted my daughters to build their own memories. Little did I know they would be so overjoyed to go to Hidden Valley. BHT Camp 2016 - First Informational Meeting - Powell, OH
Hi Everyone! It's almost 2016, which means it's finally time to start preparations for this summer's camp! The first informational meeting will be on Saturday, January 9th. There will be a total of two informational meetings (the second on January 31st). If you are applying to be a full time counselor for the first time, you are required to attend at least one of the meetings. Also, keep an eye out on your emails for the counselor application that will be released soon. Can't wait to see all of you on January 9th! Hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and have a great New Year's!

Starting at 6pm Dale Potter-Clark will discuss the process and research that led to the writing of "The Founders and Evolution of Summer Resorts and Kids' Camps on Four Lakes in Central Maine". There will be time for Q&A followed by book signings. Books will be available for sale following the talk.

Sewing Camp is offered to children ages 6-14. This year we will be working on a number of machine projects as well as some hand sewing. There is no experience necessary. I'm very excited about the projects we have selected. I think the children will absolutely love what they accomplish during this week of camp! And they will learn a lot! Please sign up to confirm a spot due to limited space. The cost is $100 per child. Thanks and I can't wait!!

Skits, Scenes, and In-betweens - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
Students will learn the fine art of comedic acting in these humorous and fun short scenes. Getting to choose from a variety of short skits, the performers will learn about comic timing and delivery as they rehearse for a final presentation. INSTRUCTOR JOHN WALDRON received his BFA in theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University. As an actor, director, and instructor, he has been working in the region for over 20 years. He has directed shows at Aldersgate and MVCCT. John can be seen in the motion picture Talk To Me starring Don Cheadle and was featured on Investigative Discovery show Who The Bleep!. Felted Bags and Purses - Artists Exchange
This 4 week workshop will focus on making bags and purses using a resist method of wet felting. For many, felt is a crafting material sold in squares made out of some mish-mosh of synthetic fibers. Felting is actually extremely natural and is one of the most ancient art forms in mankinds history. It is still a widely used method which can create anything from clothing to toys and even houses. In this class, students will learn the basic process of wet felting which creates wool fabric by layering raw wool fibers, adding warm soapy water and a little elbow grease. This is an inter-generational class. The felting process is simple but can be very versatile which makes it a great opportunity for parents and children to work together side by side. Tournament and Belt Test - Important information - St. Marks Catholic School
Tournament start times 10:00 a.m. White, Gold, Green belt check-in 9:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. Purple, Blue, Red, Brown belt check-in 12:00 p.m. Event timing example The White belts would be assigned a ring for testing. Green belts in another ring for sparring competition and the Gold belts would do Form competition in a third ring. When the events are done (approximately 20-30 minutes) they will rotate to another event. All awards will be done at ringside. Form Competition This is where students compete against one another by doing a form in front of a panel of Judges for points (weve been practicing in class). Form divisions are set by belt level. Judges look for intensity, Focus, strength, technique and attitude. The competitor with the most points wins 1st place etc. Tournament Champions There will be a Lower belt Champion (green belt and below) and an Upper belt Champion (purple and above). The competitors who win first place in both form and sparring events will be eligible for this event.
