Butch's Sunday School Class is collecting spare change to send a pre-teen from First Baptist Church of Deweyville, TX (a suburb of Houston) that was devestated by the flooding last week to Highland Lakes Camp this summer. Normally the church raises funds by having fundraisers but as you can see...they will have to devote all their time to restoring the church. Chapel Hill's youth have attended this camp several times in the past with great spiritual success.

The Road to Rio Gymnastics Camp-I - St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School
Session I For rising JK-4th grade students Dont miss your Road to Rio! It starts at our incredibly fun and challenging camp. Introduce your All-American Girl or Iron Man to the spirit of gymnastics! All-American Girl instruction will focus on vault, bars, balance beam, floor exercise and mini-trampoline. We will encourage the "grace" behind the sport and will incorporate turns, leaps, jumps and elements of the sport of Rhythmic Gymnastics along with tumbling and mini-trampoline. In our "Iron Men" tumbling program, the boys will be grouped by age and introduced to the basics of tumbling acrobatics such as rolls, cartwheels, handstands, handsprings, jumps and safety falls, in addition to mini trampoline fundamentals. For the older boys we offer acro-slam activities such as dunking balls by jumping off the mini-tramp. To round out this program, we will encourage the girls and boys to challenge their strength, flexibility, & coordination through fun, age appropriate gymnastics, challenges, and activities. Begin here & join the Road to Rio for 2016 Olympic Year! Daily Olympic games and relays played with prizes and end- of-camp participation medals will be included. All boys need adventure in their life. This camp is for designed to foster a love of life and adventure outside of the trappings of video games and technology. The DC4B offers a generous sampling of activities and lessons that familiarizes the campers with games, hobbies, and skills that every boy should know and love. The camp is much more idea-specific than the usual boys summer camp. With its conglomerate of themes, this camp is directed with a specific vision towards the healthy, all-around growth of boys body and mind, through healthy, active leisure. The camp will be divided into four ‘companies, allowing the boys to take part in a friendly competition that culminates on the final day of camp. Sample activities may include calligraphy, sports, field trips, short stories, yo-yos, harmonicas, knot tying, bouldering, historic battles, juggling, paper airplanes, fire-building, slingshots, lawn games, creeking, and more! Canvas Painting (ages 5-7) M-F 1-4pm - Meadowlark Community Church
Canvas Painting (AGES 5-7 for the PM) Explore the colorful world of paint with teaching artist Deron Cohen (www.deroncohen.com). We will be making at least two paintings over these 5 days. Through step-by-step instruction and demonstration, students will learn how to break down an image into its most basic shapes and transfer those shapes onto the canvas. We will also explore the Imagination as students are guided through a creative process that encourages experimentation while also re-enforcing all of the previous techniques and skills developed. Time permitting, students will be encouraged to make another painting incorporating all the techniques learned throughout the week.
