Global Video Game Designer #1 - Middle School
Coding is the new literacy - so give your child a leg up by helping him or her become a media maker. This course teaches the building blocks of coding through MITs Scratch Jr. video game design platform. Young children will create all sorts of neat animations (including a dance party and a farm animal race) while learning sequencing skills that make characters move, jump, dance, and talk. With all Level Up Village courses, 30% of the profit goes to sponsor a Global Partner classroom of students in a developing country who will be matched up with kids at Portledge. Together, using the same curriculum and technology, young video game designers from around the world will work collaboratively by exchanging personal video messages and by participating in a digital show & share of their shared creative work. Learn seamanship and the fundamentals of sailing small sailboats for beginner students. Topics include parts of the sailboat, sailing terminology, sail trim, safety and steering. Students will work together to rig, operate and stow single-handed and double-handed sailboats based on their age, weight and experience. Make a splash this summer at Summer Daze Swim Camp. This week we will have swimming lessons, learn about water safety, play water games, travel to local swimming holes, and take a trip to a water park. Theres no better way to start your summer! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure your child (grade 1-6) is a part of this awesome summer. Guided by our American Red Cross Certified Staff, this summer promises to be one adventure after the other. Campers should bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen and bug spray, a water bottle and lunch everyday. Afternoon snack will be provided. Children should wear clothes that can get dirty and comfortable shoes that they can wear while running and hiking. Camp will run from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Before and after care is available for an additional fee. A weekly newsletter will give parents and campers an idea of what to expect each week. Join us for a summer of adventure, friendship and fun! Since humans began communicating, there has always been an urge to keep certain information underground: intended for certain eyes only and unreadable to all others. In this course, youll study, crack (decipher) and create (encipher) messages in a variety of cipher systems and historical contexts. Although youll time-hop throughout history and make stops with Julius Caesar, Ben Franklin and Abe Lincoln, among many others, youll end with an exploration of how cryptography--the study of codes and ciphers--has kept up with, and even created, the modern digital age. Ballet & Creative Dance TUES (K-2) - University City Arts League
Get moving with the basics of ballet, combined with fun creative movement activities!
