We love our Arrowhead campers! These 2nd graders show that they are ready for all the fun activities Marinwood has to offer. Arrowhead campers can be seen exploring our local Forest, playing epic games of Capture the Flag on our field and have even known to travel over to Miller Creek to play in the giant gymnasium. When not exploring, Arrowheads like to play at our playground, take a dip in the pool or spend some chill time doing arts and crafts indoors. Opti 2 - Sailing, Tennis, & Seamanship ( Intermediate ) Eligibility AYC Jr Sailing is open to all children regardless of membership status. Admittance in the 2s class is based on their ability and performance in Opti 1s, and demonstration of adequate swimming skills for safety purposes. Or beginners in the Opti 2 age range, 10-12. Sailing The Opti 2 Sailing class builds on the 1s mastery of the basic skills of sailing. Participants will work on developing advanced sailing skills. A Opti 2 sailor will be able to master basic knots, have a strong understanding of the parts of the boat and sail and their effects on powering and de-powering the boat. Sailors will have a constant awareness of the wind, be able to trim for different points of sail and conditions, have an awareness of body position relative to wind and wave conditions, and consistently use tiller extension. The 2s will make controlled gybes, tack without falling-off the breeze, sail in and out of the river independently, land on docks or instructors motor boat safely, and have a basic understanding of the Rules of the Road.
