LEGO® Advanced Engineering (14437A) - Cary Academy
Calling all LEGO® Master Builders! Learn master builder fundamentals while building a variety of challenging and advanced motorized mechanical constructs using LEGO® Bricks and Technic® elements including a mechanical spider, construction equipment, sports machines, and animals before engineering and creating your own custom articulated creation. Session 1: Aug 8-12 * 7th-9th Grades - Icicle Creek Center for the Arts
7th-9th Grade film campers in are in for a fun and exciting hands-on introduction to the media arts in a beautiful natural setting. Start the week filming around the natural beauty of the Icicle Creek Campus, followed by two days of editing and post production. From concept to final cut, young filmmakers will experience each step of the creative process and experiment with new technologies. Campers will learn how to conduct a meaningful interview, handle a camera, set up a shot, record audio, and even shoot aerials from a drone. And once the footage is all gathered, of course, it all has to be organized and edited. By the end of the week, campers will have planned, shot and edited their own movie and well cap it all off with a family screening complete with popcorn! Rebels, Outsiders, and Visionaries - NCSSM Durham Campus
Description: In this course we will look at cultural pioneers, those who dared to push the boundaries of art, music, film and literature, and the profound effect they had on the status quo. We will explore a wide variety of artists, from William Blake (poet/artist) and Art Blakey (jazz drummer) to Chuck D (activist, emcee, author) and David Lynch (film maker). We will also harness alternate and augmented reality technology to create an interactive installation on NCSSMs campus. Goals: Participants will understand the role of the rebel and how the rebels outsider perspective creates cultural change. Participants will be also work collaboratively to plan and build both an augmented reality exhibit and an alternate reality game to teach participants about the history of rebellious artists and thinkers. 919-416-2635
