Clay Camp - Teen Wheel Throwing - Pomona, CA
This camp will be an introduction to the potter's wheel! During this camp teens will have the opportunity to work in a professional ceramic studio using the same equipment that the pros use. The camp will begin with centering the clay and creating basic forms, such as bowls, cups and vases. We will spend time learning how to trim and finish the pots. The last day of class everyone will glaze their work with their favorite colorful patterns. June 20th - June 24th 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

Visual Arts: Abstract Expressionism exploded onto the art scene after World War II. Rather than follow the tame methods from the Old World, these young bohemians applied paint in a dramatic and experimental manner. Find out why Jackson Pollock was known as "Jack the Dripper" and how Willem de Kooning swashbuckled loaded brushes with colliding garish colors. Youll be dripping, smearing, slathering, and flinging your way to incredible artwork! Puppetry: The stars of several popular 1940s TV shows were inanimate objects. Hmmm… how could that be? They were puppets like Howdy Doody, Kukla & Ollie and their friends that created a make-believe world, entertaining children and adults alike!
