Teen Power Camp Begins Tuesday, 1 December! :) - Apollo Beach, FL
It's here! The Fall edition of our Teen Power Camp provides a fundamental fitness foundation for any high school student, scaled to anyone from first timers just trying to get into shape to high school athletes looking for structured off-season training or additional in-season work. The Teen Power Program will introduce athletes to bodyweight exercises, gymnastics, powerlifting and basic olympic weightlifting, all while under the close supervision of a certified CrossFit instructor. Our goal is to teach local Teens how to safely and efficiently move their body and external objects (bars, kettlebells, medicine balls, etc) through space, dramatically improving body composition and improving athletic ability in anyone. Our program is designed to increase stamina, strength, power, endurance, coordination, balance, accuracy and flexibility in any person, all while in a team environment filled with positive people. Every workout is scaled to ANY teens capacity. Teens must be at least 13 years of age and emotionally mature. Cost is $119 per month for children of Apogee members and $139 for children of non-Apogee members Class runs 330-430pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Interested? Who wouldnt want to play with robots all day? We will work in teams to invent awesome contraptions to preform creative tasks and challenges. Campers will also enjoy playing robotics related activity games that encourage problem solving and critical thinking. Of course, no robot day is complete without a battle or two. (6-8 age group will use the LEGO Wedo robotic system, 9+ will use the LEGO NXT Mindstorm.) 770-826-0449

Using the Robotics Invention System by LEGO and a computer, youll partner up with a peer to program everything from a light-sensitive intruder alarm to a robot rover that can follow a trail. Fly fishing is a sport that teaches patience, improves motor skills, and fosters an appreciation for nature. No one can walk away from losing a five minute battle with a stubborn trout without a deep respect for the fish! Students will learn the basics of fly fishing – setting up their rod and reel, knot typing, basic overhead casting, selecting the right fly, etc. Discussion will also include the history of fly fishing, how its different from other kinds of fishing, and entomology.
