This session will allow kids to convert their favorite stories into keepsake crafts using the process of upcycling. This experience will teach the importance of repurposing through creativity while encouraging conversations about the value and importance of literature in our lives. Participants will create several items from old books chosen for this purpose. While creating these items, we will discuss their favorite stories, the most fascinating characters, and why books and upcycling are important. *Participants will need to bring 3 hardback books of their choice; books that are in disrepair or those which would otherwise be recycled are recommended. Favorite childrens books are especially useful. Ms. Suzanne Russell earned her M.S. in Library Science from Indiana University. She is the subject area librarian for Brebeufs Religious Studies and Science departments. She is a former Girl Scout leader; enjoys books, cooking, baking; and loves all things outdoors. Race for the Campers 5K, 10K, and Kid's 1 Mile Adventure Runs - Trout
Get a taste of what Camp Jonah has to offer its campers in these 10k, 5k, and kid’s 1 mile adventure runs; with all proceeds going directly to camp scholarships to help get kids to camp! If you like your races with a little more "fun" than "run" Jonah’s 5k obstacle run is the race for you. Test your limits by wading through mud pits, scaling climbing walls, conquering inflatable obstacles, dodging flying water balloons, and battling many more surprises along the way. Win the race to be crowned camp King or Queen. Be sure to bring your messy clothes/shoes, you may get dirty! Coon Rapids - Week 6 - LACROSSE and SOCCER Week - Coon Rapids Ice Center
AKAs Lacrosse and Soccer Week combines two of the countrys most popular youth sports. Lacrosse Camp teaches kids the basics of the fastest growing sport in Minnesota through series of drills and games. This is a very recreational Lacrosse camp that features professional coaching for both the boys and girls styles of the game. Throughout Soccer Camp, kids will receive professional World Class soccer instruction and plenty of games and competition for the worlds most popular sport thanks to our professional AKA Soccer Staff! Of course, kids get a chance to play a multitude of sports as well as the feature sports throughout the day including basketball, soccer, dodgeball, kickball, even some ice time. AKA All Sports Camp have it all....what a great way to keep kids active while you are at work. ***Lacrosse sticks provided for those without*** Featured Field Trip - Science Museum, St. Paul, Thursday, July 21 FYI - The actual day camp runs from 9am-4pm though kids are welcome to get dropped off as early as 7am and picked up as late as 6pm. Campers will: * Design the treehouse of their dreams! Would it be multiple stories tall and look like a mansion or would it be a single story and have a zipline or a hot tub?
