ROVs & Marine Debris - NESS
Work in teams to design and test a remote operated vehicle (ROV). Learn about the impact of marine debris and the influence of currents and gyres. Take the ROV Marine Debris Challenge to outfit your ROV with the ability to gather any marine debris in its path. Perform a beach clean-up, create a clean debris sculpture, and enter your debris findings into a nationwide data base. *No class April 22* 860-535-9362

Singing for Musical Theatre – Ensemble Performance - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
No class on Feb. 14. This course is designed for singers at any level (grades 2nd - 9th). Students will learn the basics of vocal technique for proper singing, including voice placement and production, breathing, and phrasing. Students will receive guidance in finding their voice type and category. They will also work on presenting songs – learning how to make a song come alive by not just singing it, but interpreting and performing it. This semesters in-class concentration will be on musical theatre chorus/ensemble numbers. Students will work on singing together, and will be taught not just melodies, but also how to sing harmonies and various vocal parts. (An ability to sing harmonies and to sing with others is an essential part of musical theatre performance.) Some of the songs will also include basic movement/staging, and the music and movement that is learned will be presented/ performed in a musical revue format. Students will perform on the LTA stage in the Spring Showcase on April 1st and 2nd! (Students who wish to participate in the Showcase must be available for rehearsals during the early evening hours the week of March 28th.) Remote Control Mania Camp - National Park
Making it move is the name of the game at this exciting camp! Kids will love to see their creations in motion using LEGO® wireless remote controls. Each day, campers will use fascinating and challenging LEGO® components to create dynamic vehicles, inventions, machines and more. As they enjoy the fun of building, campers will understand the basic working principles of many ingenious devices that are part of our everyday lives. Campers will also learn how to magnify, diminish and redirect force to move objects at different speeds and in different directions. This camp is loads of fun and learning for budding builders. Beginning Band (AM) - MA Lower School Band Room
This course will focus on learning the basics of the woodwind, brass or percussion instrument of each students choice. Learning activities will center around small group instruction with like instruments, music theory and games, and a group rehearsal with all instruments combined. The week will conclude with a short informance by all band members. Open to students entering 5th grade who have no previous experience on a band instrument. Prerequisite: Students must provide their own band instrument or arrange for rental through the Middle School Band Director and purchase a band method book to be used in class. 6127287745 x2

July 5-8: Lets Grow! (Ages 8-11) - Mountain Kids!
This week campers will have a chance to get dirty (ok, thats every week!), plant their own giant sunflower and visit a working farm.
