These are the things far too many children hear on a regular basis, and a lot of these children are right here within our Lewis-Clark Valley and the surrounding area. These kids hear these things (and far worse than this) from their guardians, parents, and/or other family members. Many also deal with sexual and physical abuse, come from broken homes, and have been neglected or abandoned. Others still have bounced from place to place all their lives and don't know what it is like to have a family, a home, a safe environment, or even to just be a kid. There are children who have taken on the role of a parent to their sibling(s) at a young age (some as early as 4 or 5 years old) because their parent(s)/guardian(s) aren't present either mentally or physically. It is recorded that annually, 3.6 million cases of child abuse, neglect or abandonment are reported in America, and one of these victims dies every six hours...

A Usdan Visit and Information Session is an excellent way to learn about our many summer programs and what makes them both fun and educational. We begin with a guided walk through campus, introducing the music, art, dance, theater, writing, chess, nature and recreation departments. Our administrative leadership will share a few ideas about what shapes the Usdan program, from where we draw our inspiration, and what makes a summer at Usdan unlike any other. We will explain the enrollment process, and you will be given a chance to talk in small groups, or individually, with our knowledgeable team of arts faculty and staff members. We end the visit with a self-guided walk and exploration of the grounds.
