Odyssey Teen Camp get together in Central Park, Sunday, December 4th from about 12:00-3:00! .... This feels like a really good time to connect with old and new friends and just be together for a few hours. I know many of you live too far to get to NYC for a few hours, but you will be there in spirit. We are going to meet in Central Park at a place called Arthur Ross Pinetum. It's kind of a playground, and small field, that is fenced. It's on the West side of the Park, near 84th Street and Central Park West. It will probably be chilly, so dress nice and warm. It won't be a big deal, we will hang out , eat donuts and pizza, and other healthy food options. I may have new long sleeved t-shirts to give you if your willing to do a little social media marketing for camp. Feel free to bring along any friends. We believe our Creator wants us to be joyfully creative! The primary goals of this camp are to encourage, nurture, and nourish each childs creative spirit. Daily Activities: In the mornings of each camp day, students will receive training in music and art. In each daily session they will learn something new that will build from the previous day. While in music class, students can explore keyboard, guitar, dance, and voice. Students will learn new concepts in music theory, use rhythm instruments, and participate in creative composition to begin the process of making music. In art class, students will experience textures, work with lighting and shading, and learn level of color. Arts students develop their fine motor skills. Each artist will create renderings that they will take home for years of enjoyment. Dance class is designed to introduce your child to the beginning movements of ballet, jazz and hip hop to inspire their interest in the creative beauty of dance. The SAT Prep Class at Loyola Blakefield is an intensive four-evening class that covers the Math, English, and Writing sections of the SAT. The class runs the Monday though Thursday before each SAT test and covers two days of math and two days of English/Writing. Topics include coverage of basic SAT curriculum, test taking strategies, and the completion of SAT test questions. The class runs evenings from 7 – 9:30 pm. Cost is $175. Class size is limited to twenty- five students per session. The math portion of the SAT Prep Class is taught by Mr. Jose Albornoz. Mr. Albornoz has been a mathematics teacher at Loyola Blakefield for the past thirty years. He has taught all levels of mathematics from 7th grade pre-algebra through Advanced Placement Calculus. 2015 -2016 will be his 31st year at Blakefield and his 7th teaching the SAT Prep Class.
