The brand new musical - which opened this season on Broadway - follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school and ends up turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. SCHOOL OF ROCK is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who composed 14 songs to create the score, which also features all of the original songs from the movie. Ohlook has been granted a special license to perform this show while it is still performing on Broadway! Come join us and add a Regional Premiere to your resume! Performances: April 15 - May 1 Rehearsal Schedule will be set after auditions. You must audition during our Spring Auditions (Jan. 22, 23, or 24) to be considered for this show. Daily activities for children who are in the three-year-old program are based upon projects and units of study that are interesting and meaningful to those children. A balanced schedule provides experiences in group and individual settings and includes stories, music, language experiences, natural discovery, and inquisitive discussions that include research. Classrooms are arranged into centers that include educational toys, materials, and games based upon age appropriateness and the interests of the children. These include centers for books, blocks, sensory materials, art, puzzles and manipulatives, math, science, and dramatic play. Children have the opportunity to work and play in these centers individually, with a friend, or in small groups. Choosing centers provides practice in making decisions, following directions, working independently, and learning about the care and use of materials. Outside time offers opportunities for gross motor development (including climbing, running, jumping, pedaling, and building), social interactions, as well as a chance to experience weather and seasons. Children can also experiment with sand and water during these outside periods. Daily group times provide opportunities for your child to learn in a large group setting. This camp is for the all around athlete or for someone who wants to try it all. Sports like soccer, basketball, hockey, football, and baseball will be taught in detail. The main focal point of this camp is teamwork and sportsmanship. Each sport is covered in a way so that every participant can contribute to his or her teams success. This camp is not about winning or losing its about having FUN and learning. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All equipment is provided for this camp. Campers will put their lab coats on as they bust myths and create minor explosions... BAA Junior is a program designed specifically for young performers ages 6-10 who show great promise in musical theatre but are not yet old enough to attend our other workshops and intensives. Students will study voice, acting, and dance in a small group setting where they will develop their fundamental performance skills and explore their creativity. Classes will include theatre games, improvisation, vocal technique, song/scene interpretation, and learning original Broadway choreography from shows like Annie, Billy Elliot and Mary Poppins! The instructors for this program specialize in working with young children and every class will be an energetic, positive environment where the students can make friends and have fun! BAA Junior is also a fantastic opportunity for students to get introduced to Broadway Artists Alliance and prepare themselves for our other workshops and intensives. All students will attend a Broadway show, receive a private coaching from a member of our Senior Staff, and participate in a final Industry Showcase for Casting Directors, Agents and Managers who specialize in working with young performers! 212-561-9429
