So long as humans have existed on this planet, microbes have coexisted with us. Theyve lived in our bodies and thrived in the environment, posing a silent and constant threat. Theyve caused fevers and panic, helped with digestion and immunity. In this introductory course in human microbial disease, students will be introduced to the impact that various microbes have had in our lives. Students will learn the principles and methods of disease investigation: investigating patterns of illness in populations, identifying infectious microbes by visual assessment, mode of infection, and symptoms. Students will be able to identify the characteristics of various pathogens and infectious agents, be able to explain how diseases spread, and will construct models, create presentations, and collaborate on projects related to epidemiol 919-416-2635

This year at New Culture Summer Camp Cascadia, we will be exploring our creative edges, expanding our comfort zone, and integrating the skills, knowledge and intuitions of participants to co-create an experience that is unique, alive, and transformational. We are inviting talented facilitators and presenters to join us in our experiment as we also open up the programming to respond directly to the desires of the group in the moment. What will arise? What will we create? What new discovery will we uncover as we practice together being fully present in our bodies and in community? Each day will include ZEGG-style Forum for connection and transparency. Together we will cultivate connections, empower personal and social change, support healing, and explore love & freedom of choice. The kids will learn silks, hoop, hammock, balance, calisthenics, yoga, and PARKOUR! Keep your kids active and having fun during their long school break!! You can sign them up and pay over the phone or come in Monday morning and sign up when you drop them off!

Instructor: Rosanne Stutts The technical aspects of black-and-white photography will be emphasized so that students can work more creatively with their camera and in the darkroom. Camera operations, use of equipment such as lenses, tripod, and light meter, and correct film selection are among the topics to be covered. Learn basic density and contrast controls for both negatives and prints, along with proper film development. Basic darkroom procedures, safety, printmaking techniques, burning and dodging, toning, archival processing and print presentation will also be discussed. Please bring your own 35-mm camera with manual controls.
