Magical Gardens Gardens are a major part of what makes the Hermitage so special. During this week of camp we will celebrate various gardens as we take your young artist out into the beautiful Rose Garden, Sunken Garden, and Rain Gardens at the Hermitage. Campers will do observational drawings, landscape paintings and create their very own ‘magical garden. Through nature walks they will discover garden sculptures and learn about patterns in the natural world. This year campers will also have a special opportunity to contribute to the Hermitages very own vegetable garden! Allow your artist to discover magic in the Hermitage Gardens! The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., with a morning session that will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon, lunch and playing time from noon to 1:00 p.m., and the afternoon session from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. The camp day ends promptly at 4:00 p.m. 757-423-2052 x203

Wonderful Program
Before settling on the 4-H Center for our daughter's summer camp we had the chance to take a tour. We were very impressed. The bunkrooms were spotless. Although I can only imagine what will happen when the kids move in! They have a full program that is sure to keep the kids busy and challenged throughout their stay. We were also very impressed with all the counselors. A very friendly and helpful staff. I only wish I could go to camp again!... Read More...

BodyRite Training Teen Sport Camp - Jamesport, NY
We are excited to announce that BodyRite will be hosting a series of teen athletic camp programs this summer. Many young athletes are looking to improve their abilities in the off season and we believe BodyRite Teens Sport Camp will help enhance athletic skills and performance by using simple methods and sound science. The camp will run three separate sessions in two week sessions, starting July 11th from 11am to 2pm. The best part of the camp, is that no matter what ability level, the camper will progress. Whether an athlete or not, this camp is designed to help any teen interested in working out learn the basics of proper movement, strength training, and sound nutrition. We welcome all abilities ages 13 through 18. Coupling intelligent programming with sport specific nutrition, we will teach the athlete or interested fitness enthusiast how to move better for their sport, and how to fuel thier bodies properly for optimal performance.

Learn the Olympic sport of Fencing this summer in a fun and safe environment! Positive Coaching Alliance certified coaches Chris and Jay instruct kids in the basics of the sport, so that kids come out knowing everything they need to be young fencers. Over the course of the week, we cover coordination, footwork, bladework, scoring, and bouting. Kids will spend their week playing team building and coordinating games, while learning the sport of "physical chess" from two elite level coaches! Tons of chemistry and biology for the aspiring doctor or scientist! Sample Projects: Bulging Bag of Brains, Simulated Snot, Baby Diaper Dissection, Eyeball Acrobatics, Bird Barf, and we are only getting started! Drama Advanced-Prepared to be challenged by the likes of Shakespeare, Mamet and other influential playwrights in our Advanced Drama Class. This class will delve into the techniques used by famous teachers such as Stanislavsky, Chekov and Boal, to truly hone their skills in bringing characters to life on the stage. Please contact Jay Goodlett to confirm that you have the required training to participate. Step into the role of a lifetime and learn the secrets of the Dramatic Arts! Using traditional and modern acting techniques, we will explore the dynamics of drama through the use of scene work. Your teaching artist will assign scenes from both contemporary and classical theatrical plays/musicals as you learn to expand your talents through the help of others.
