Did you ever think, What makes people laugh? What makes you laugh? We will spend a week laughing at comedy throughout the ages and create our own! By watching comedy in many forms, such as cartoons, sit-coms, improv, standup, and movies, we will laugh and learn about the universal truth of comedy and how it has evolved over time and by culture. We will also read funny stories, jokes, and essays, and we will grow as writers by writing our own comedy sketches, stories, jokes, and short films. We will also practice improv. The week will conclude with a comedy performance of the work we will create. Be ready to laugh, think, and push yourself not just to be a funnier person but also to become a comedy expert. Extending the Fun of the Club
Our kids have been going to the local Boys and Girls club for the past year but this was the first time they ventured out for summer camp. I'm so glad they did. They got to try out so many new things. One of the big hits was the work in the garden. Now they want to turn out backyard into a vegetable patch. Boot camp Specifics: Advanced horsemanship with an emphasis in ground skills training, barrels, poles, jumping, trails, and obstacle competitions. Junior Adventurers: Outdoor Explorers - Junior Adventurers!
Calling all junior adventurers for another summer of discoveries! In this half-day camp, your sons will enjoy all that The Heights campus has to offer. With beautiful stands of native tree species, numerous bird boxes, and a room full of past discoveries, there will be no lack for exciting new areas of learning. Two days will be dedicated to the animal kingdom – mammals, insects, reptiles and more. Another will focus on seeds and plants. – we cant live without them! Two days will also be devoted to experiments and discovery, bringing their knowledge to life. In the course of daily adventures around campus, campers will climb the trees theyve heard about and capture the insects theyve drawn. With a take-home booklet filled with artistic learning exercises, your son will be drawing on his discoveries from this camp for years to come! Staff: Peter Vitz, 4th grade homeroom teacher, has taught natural history at The Heights for 5 years. Contact: Peter Vitz at The Heights School, Notes: Usual dress is normal summer attire. Campers will have fun in the woods turning branches into forts meant for spies or explorers! They will create tunnels or secret hideouts using easy-to-find materials, a few tools and lots of imagination. It will be a week of open-ended play that emphasizes unstructured creative exploration with diverse natural materials. Desserts: Garnishes & Finishing Touches - Coyote Central
Youve seen the amazing desserts in bakery cases, on TV and in fancy magazines. Youll create your own and they will look just about that incredible. With chocolate, youll doodle, swirl and dazzle. Youll learn how to make fondant flowers and sugar flourishes, glazed fruit that looks like jewels and royal icing lacework. Girls Sports Camp - Leaders-in-Training Program - Germantown Friends School
The Girls Sports Camps Leaders-in-Training Program combines a classic counselor-in-training program (focused on assisting younger campers) with leadership training activities. Under the direction of GFS Physical Education Department Director, Deb Brackett, training sessions will address such questions as, How do you know when to lead and when to follow? What are your emerging strengths as a leader? What makes an activity fun for campers? Are you prepared to handle unexpected situations? Can you take on the responsibility of leading warm-ups, cheers and other activities? Do you know what it takes to become a successful athlete yourself? LIT Program participants will work directly with campers and support both the camp director and the senior counselors in the daily activities of Girls Sports Camp. Get ready for a week of fun, adventure and sports! Go Tigers! ROAR! Swims at the Germantown Cricket Club add to the summertime fun! This camp is open only to GFS students.
