The Spring Skills Academy is designed to help players master need fundamental skills that will allow them to be successful in games. This program is perfect for players of all skill levels that want to master the basics. The following skills will be taught: Shooting mechanics, footwork, ball handling, passing, finishing, defense, how to use screens & fundamental moves. Pure Sweat Elite Skills coach, Matt Pugh will lead the Hannibal, MO Spring Skills Academy. The training days available are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Training times are TBD. Our lessons will give young vets an opportunity to look into the exciting careers of real veterinarians, and allow them to be involved in related hands-on activities and experiments. Come learn what it takes to be successful in fleet and team racing (the fun and challenging form of sailing as a team sport). Our experienced race coaches will challenge students to perfect their boat handling techniques, with the skipper and crew developing and refining coordination and mutual reliance. Students will work on improving and refining their boat-handling skills and developing together as a two-person team. Students will be challenged to perfect their upwind and downwind sailing techniques and will learn to better use hiking straps, tiller extensions, and sail controls and will develop their spinnaker and trapeze skills. Students will expand their knowledge of wind, weather, and tides, and will work on basic racing techniques and rules. Students will be encouraged to compete in the many local 420 regattas that we tow boats to by water. All students will be under the supervision of our race coaches in class and at local regattas. In addition to fleet racing, coaches will teach the techniques, tactics and rules of team racing through practice drills and a practice-race format.
