Villa-Parke Camp Group A 6th week Jul 18 - Jul 22 - City of Pasadena
This activity may not be registered for individually because it is part of a package.S.T.E.A.M. into fun with this innovative and dynamic summer camp. Villa-Parke Enrichment Camp creates an exciting learning environment that explores the five core concepts of the S.T.E.A.M. curriculum: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Each weeks activities are based on a theme. For example, during Space Exploration Week, campers may take a field trip to the Griffith Observatory, base their art projects around the solar system, do astronaut training activities for fitness and learn space themed vocabulary in Spanish. Campers do wacky science experiments, explore technology and mathematics through Lego(R) robotics in the computer lab, complete engineering challenges and attend language lessons including American Sign Language and Spanish. The camp also incorporates traditional camp arts and crafts activities like painting, drawing and beadwork, as well as ceramics instruction and the use of pottery wheels. Daily activities include at least 90 minutes of high-energy physical fitness. Specialized sports instruction is offered for both tennis and golf. Campers participate in recreational swim two times per week. Camp counselors go into the water with the campers and well-trained, certified lifeguards are always present. Girls entering Grade 6 in Fall 2016 - Huddart Park
Campers entering grade 6 are grouped in units with girls of their own age/grade and are supervised by trained staff members and program aides. Campers participate in a wide variety of activities including earning badges, hiking, outdoor cooking, learning outdoor skills, crafts, games, singing and more. Girls entering grade 6 in Fall 2016 will be going horseback riding one day during the first week of camp (additional waiver form required for this activity). Girls are will spend the night at camp on Wednesday, July 27th with their unit.
