This GRACE camp is based on the theme of water. Each day the activities will be based on this theme. Our biggest field trip of the summer is to Wet n Wild waterpark. For increased safety, this will be a family trip. So plan on joining the fun:) We also swim at T.A.C. Villa-Parke Enrichment Camp creates an exciting learning environment that explores the five core concepts of the S.T.E.A.M. curriculum: science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. For example, during Space Exploration Week, campers may take a field trip to the Griffith Observatory, base their art projects around the solar system, do astronaut training activities for fitness and learn space themed vocabulary in Spanish. We are psyched to bring our dual passions for getting into nature and documenting our adventures to Mountain Kids! Campers will spend the first day learning what it takes to makes a compelling video, composition and audio recording. Campers will then learn how to prepare and pack for a backpacking trip, the 6 Ws of preparing for any outdoor trip, map reading and leave no trace principles. We will spend time writing and creating stories on a two night backpacking trip. During the second week, campers will share their time between the recording studio, the computer lab and getting outside to create a 2-3 minute video of their adventures. On Thursday evening we will celebrate with a screening of their work. Equipment Needed: • Backpacking pack, sleeping pad, a sleeping bag, and a mess kit (bowl, fork, spoon, cup).
