This affordable summer camp pulls out all the stops. My 12 year old son has attended this camp the last 4 years. The camp teaches youngsters ages 8-14 survival skills if they are ever lost or in a dangerous situation. They learn simple things such as how to treat a bee sting, to complex issues such as creating an overnight shelter to sleep in. These skills help create independence and confidence in children.... Our Jr. S.T.E.A.M. Team members (ages 3-5), our S.T.E.A.M. Team members (ages 6-9), and our Counselors-in-Training (ages 10-13) will join forces to solve mysteries, visit the Louvre, take on the Big Apple, and visit the Texas Zoo. Families can register their campers for just one adventure or they can take on the full S.T.E.A.M. Team challenge by signing up for all 4 camps, giving them the title of Jr. CDM Ambassador (ages 3-9) or CDM Ambassador (ages 10-13). Why just *play* Minecraft when you can *create* Minecraft? In this camp designed for quick learners or those with block-based coding experience, campers will learn how to code in Java by making a mod for Minecraft! This is professional, text-based coding. Create and then craft a sword out of mushy bananas, or spawn a flying golden cow! Make the full transition from player to content creator! SPECIALTY CAMP CANCELLATION POLICY Participants wishing to drop an enrichment class/specialty camp must contact Community Services at (760) 744-9000 x3501. Camp Surprise campers will work together to re-create a permanent Terabithia for the camp fairies, spread the camp spirit by planning a themed meal for the week, create a way to pass positive messages around camp, help with an all-camp activity and end the week by performing the Princess No-Name story at campfire.
