Give your child open studio time at the Art Station between camps! Play outside with games, big hula hoops, cornhole and more. Youth enrolled in both morning and afternoon camps qualify for free lunchtime child care; only $20 if your child is registered for one camp. Registration required. Dancemakers (1st-3rd) - Head-Royce School
Instructor Kim Agnew is a multi-disciplined dancer, choreographer and dance educator teaching all over the greater Bay Area including, Head Royce, dance and music outreach with the San Francisco Ballet and 13 summers with Marin Ballet. As many students repeat dance in ASP, off campus or during the regular school day, they begin to have creative dance ideas of their own. In this class, Kim will guide the dancers in creating their own group choreography using the dance skills they bring to class as well as learning some new ones. New dancers have great ideas too and are more than welcome to join class. The dancers really have to work as a team, try each others ideas and see what their moves look like when someone else executes it. The pride and joy that the collaborative group generates is something you will surely feel when they perform at the end of the year! All levels of students welcome! 5105311300 x2500
Writing for 9th and 10th Grade - Seattle Preparatory School
Students will strengthen their academic writing skills through reading, interpreting, and writing contemporary poems. This is an opportunity for students to focus on the specific details of a texts word choice, structure, imagery, and symbolism, both as readers and as creative writers. (Its amazing how much more deeply you can understand whats happening in literature when you try your hand at crafting it!) Its also a chance for students to practice developing arguments by choosing strong evidence and providing insightful analysis. Taught by Ms. Jen Dotsey. This activity may not be registered for individually because it is part of a package.The Arroyo Seco Adventure Camp offers opportunities to learn about our local, natural resources in a fun and exciting way. Now in its third year, this innovative camp pairs environmental education with traditional camp activities. Based in Brookside Park with regular activities in the lower Arroyo, this is an outdoor camp. The first week of camp focuses on origins of the Arroyo Seco and the geological events that created this amazing space. Other weeks focus on plants of the Arroyo, local animals and myths, protecting and exploring nature and survival skills. Conservation specialisits lead daily nature walks and instruct on conservation of environmental resources, native plants and local wildlife. Other activities include casting pond fly-fishing, archery, horseback riding, hiking, environmental education lessons, swimming, art and group games. Campers go on a weekly environmental themed field trip. In previous years, trips included kayaking, nature centers and local farms. Staff ratio is 1 to 10.
