Camp Indian Summer is an opportunity for grown-up kids of all ages to leave their worries and responsibilties at the foot of the mountain and spend a few days being a kid again. Explore the streams, caves and forest trails on the 800 acre Cathedral Domain property located in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Relax on our decks and porches, beside the swimming pool, or around the campfire. Refresh your spirit with yoga classes, guided meditation, and creative worship. MIDDLE SCHOOL ART CAMP: Grade 8/Session 1 Students entering grades 6-8 will be immersed in a variety of studio art experiences in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media and metalsmithing. The camp faculty of professional artists and art educators develop fun & innovative lessons that are appropriate for all students. Parents are asked to provide lunch, snack and a beverage for their children. A reception and art exhibition is held on the last Friday of camp. Come connect with the animals and learn what they like to do for fun! This exciting camp teaches the importance of enrichment. Enrichment is anything that encourages the animals to make choices, exhibit natural or species-appropriate behaviors. It also presents mental challenges for the animal, encourages physical activity/exercise and enhances their overall health and well-being. Our campers will discover what type of enrichment is best for each animal, create it and then watch the animal ambassador enjoy it! (if time allows, you can make your own take-home enrichment for the animals in your own backyard). Please bring a refillable drink container and a sack lunch. Snacks will be provided. We ask that campers wear closed-toed shoes while at the zoo. Pre-registration is required and can be done online at www.atascadero.org or by calling 470-3360. Topics include object-oriented programming, front-end development using HTML and CSS, and web integration with the Sinatra Framework.
