Filmmaking is a very collaborative process that involves all the arts. Students will explore writing, story development, acting, camera work, editing, graphics, and sculpture during the two week camp. The camp culminates in a screening of the final film, an exhibition of poster concepts and an awards ceremony of statuettes that they have made commemorating various aspects of the experience. Spartan Quest-All Summer (9-3) - 1st-8th grades - Wichita Collegiate School
Instructor: Leddy Summertime fun begins at Spartan Quest, (formerly known as Sports Camp). This class will run for all 11 weeks of summer giving your camper a consistent, exciting summer day camp experience. We will spend the mornings doing fun things on campus like; playing games, flying kites, dodge ball, hide-n-seek, flag football, basketball, video games, etc…. We also will build our own fun when we build things like; bow and arrows from PVC pipe, marshmallow shooters, mini-golf-courses, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, and anything else we can think of! In the afternoon we continue our fun off campus at places like; Tanganyika, ice skating, roller skating, Lazerquest, Watson Park, mini-golf, All-Star Adventures, Water Center, Bug Lady and many more too numerous to mention. New this summer we will be incorporating STEAM activities to inspire your childs creative mind. This class is designed for students entering 2nd to 8th grades who are looking for unlimited fun and adventure. Enroll all day for the entire summer for the special price of $1750, or pick and choose the weeks that fit your schedule. Weekly half day morning or afternoon options are available too. Algebra II - For-Credit Optional - Head-Royce School
This course is taught by veteran Head-Royce Math Teacher Chris Davies A U.C. Certified equivalent of academic year Algebra II taught in an intensive six-week format. Top-performing Head-Royce students may use the course to accelerate into Pre-calculus pending departmental approval. Other purposes for taking this course include reviewing and previewing Algebra II as needed. (As with all summer for-credit courses, students may choose to audit this course or proceed on a for-credit basis.) Textbooks will be loaned to the students, but students must provide their own graphing calculator (Head-Royce uses the TI84 or TI83). Prerequisite: Algebra 1 and Geometry, minimum C grade. The White Sox Hitting Club will present your hitter with a step-by-step approach to hitting like a Major League player. The White Sox Hitting Club will cover plate coverage and stance, stepping into a hitting position, hand path and the lower body mechanics. There are hitting absolutes that must be present in each at bat to be successful. These absolutes make all the difference. If youve ever wanted to design a play jungle for hamsters, a four-story luxury dog house, or the coolest cat castle the world has ever seen, this class is for you! In this workshop, well use Design Thinking to research, invent, and prototype new solutions for happier pets. Come prepared to create, think about animals, and build a pet utopia! Instructor Bio: Rei Jackler is an Oakland arts educator, design teacher, writer, and maker nerd. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Stanford University, where she also trained in Design Thinking at the D.School. In Oakland, she is currently Makerspace Manager for the La Escuelita Elementary School Makerspace, and has also taught design with Chapter 510. Rei loves making of all kinds: knitting multi-colored scarves, writing fantastical short stories, and baking with a lot of chocolate. This is the HALF DAY option for Young Chemist. It is time for Glues, Brews and Goos! From our stock pile of hundreds of recipes and formulas, we have chosen our top favorite chemistry activities. Campers will love exploring and examining the results of these crazy chemical concoctions! Campers will also realize the importance of measurement and sequencing, especially as they create some edible experiments! (If your child has any food allergies, please make sure to include that on your online registration form). These exciting experiments are sure to delight and spark the science minds of our youngest little campers, ages 4 and 5. Sample Projects: Invisible Ink, Funny Putty, Magic Bubble Paint, Make your own Chewing Gum, and much more! Our pre-k half day camps are 9am-1pm with pre camp options available as well!
