My son loved Camp Broad Rock. There was a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for my 12 year old son to choose from at this camp. This camp is for children from preschool through grade 12. Unlike other camps, Camp Broad Rock has an indoor aquatic center. My son was excited to know he could swim regardless of what the weather was like outdoors. Intro to body checking is a 6-week camp focused on: All Key Elements of Power Skating Intro to Body Checking Safe and Strong Body Positioning Puck Possession Its vital that young hockey players are fully prepared when entering the age levels where body checking and increased body contact are legal. Size and strength play a limited role if players are properly trained on body position, angles, correct posture, etc. Power skating will be the focus of the first 30 minutes -- then the players will be split by level. Boys and girls in third through eighth grade spend their days with friends and counselors doing all of the typical camp things: swimming, cooking out on a camp fire, canoe trips, arts and crafts, having treats, horseback riding, games … and a lot of not-so-traditional things: feeding and caring for snakes and hamsters; studying ecosystems and astronomy; competing in science challenges; building woodworking and electronics projects. Fun off-campus trips will include canoeing down the Fall River, visiting the Oklahoma salt flats, going to Laser Quest, the Alley, Ice Skating, Tanganyika, the Sedgwick Co.
