This camp will introduce you to the art of improvisational theater. Instructors from the Brave New Workshop Student Union will bring you through this art form that promotes teamwork, confidence, and creativity to build on the set of skills which will make you a better speaker and leader. Whether you tend to be the one who jumps into the thick of things, or hangs back along the wall, this camp is great for all! No previous experience is required. All registrants agree to the policies and procedures of Youth Programs, including change fees, cancellation fees, deadlines, and other details found in the program materials and parent handbook. Mythical Marionettes & Show (A.M.) with Ansley Young - Westerly Creek Elementary (Art Room)
Teachers: Ansley Young and Pam Peters lead young artists in creating a fully functional four legged creature marionette from wood, paint, rope and more. After reading and researching myths and fairy tales, kids use their findings to construct a magical being and develop a story to tell. The story will be told in a 10-15 minute performance at the end of the week. We close online registration 24 hours prior to camp start. Fencing (1st-2nd) - Head-Royce School
Realize and go beyong your dreams of Zorro, Three Musketeers and lightsaber style through learning fencing as a modern sport! A safe martial arts practice with a sword as a medium! Maître darmes Guillaume Béchaux, has been teaching fencing for 20 years and brings a personal attention to each of his students. Guillaume managed numerous school groups and clubs in France and trained the French wheelchair Olympics team for Athens and Bejiing. The program will develop analytic capabilities and dexterity through a combination of pedagogical games, technicals exercises, tactical exploration and an understanding of the importance of time and space. Fencing is the art of quick reflexes, elegant and athletic movements and mental acuity.
