Contemporary Ballet Ages 13+ - Ovation Dance Studio
A creative combination of modern dance elements and the classical ballet elements. Dancers will focus on barre work, technique, floor work, flexibility, strength, conditioning and combinations. Female Students: Any color leotard, dance tights and Pink split sole ballet shoes. Warm ups, leggings, skirts or shorts may be worn over dance wear with permission of instructor No bare legs or street clothes will be permitted in class. Covenant Day School Basketball Camp will involve all the fundamental skills you are looking for. Coach Law and his staff will cover ball handling, shooting, passing, defense (team and individual), and many more skills that will help you take your game to the next level. The basketball camp will have team-building through the course of the camp with games from skill development to actual 5 on 5! Singing for Musical Theatre – Ensemble Performance - The Little Theatre of Alexandria
No class on Feb. 14. This course is designed for singers at any level (grades 2nd - 9th). Students will learn the basics of vocal technique for proper singing, including voice placement and production, breathing, and phrasing. Students will receive guidance in finding their voice type and category. They will also work on presenting songs – learning how to make a song come alive by not just singing it, but interpreting and performing it. This semesters in-class concentration will be on musical theatre chorus/ensemble numbers. Students will work on singing together, and will be taught not just melodies, but also how to sing harmonies and various vocal parts. (An ability to sing harmonies and to sing with others is an essential part of musical theatre performance.) Some of the songs will also include basic movement/staging, and the music and movement that is learned will be presented/ performed in a musical revue format. Students will perform on the LTA stage in the Spring Showcase on April 1st and 2nd! (Students who wish to participate in the Showcase must be available for rehearsals during the early evening hours the week of March 28th.) Paper & Paint 3D Creations (A.M.) with Ansley Young - Westerly Creek Elementary (Art Room)
Teacher: Ansley Young The wonders of paper and paint come to life in this camp, where 3D projects are built and produced from papier mache, paper bags, watercolor paint, acrylic paint and dimensional embellishments, like beads, yarn, and found objects. Participants will brain storm ideas for these 3D projects on the first day, and will walk away with fabulous creations, which might be masks, sculptures, or an imaginary 3D robot, at the end of the week. Join us for the last 10 minutes of camp on the final day for an art gallery walk in the classroom. We close online registration 24 hours prior to camp start.
