What is it about wax that appeals to our senses of touch, taste, sight and smell? Beeswax. Paraffin. Soy wax. Gel wax. In this camp you will learn how to work with wax as a creative medium that is as versatile as clay or metal. You will also explore how wax is made and how the very different chemical and physical properties influence what it is best used for! Campers will create their own candles, practice wax resist techniques and will even learn the age-old craft of encaustic painting (using melted wax as paint). Our older campers will start their day at Cipriani School with camp activities and a healthy snack. Monday-Thursday they will head to Highlands Recreational Center in Footsteps vans and buses for a 1/2 hour swim lesson and 1-2 hour free swim. After swimming, campers head back to Cipriani for snack and afternoon activities. On Fridays campers will travel to Aqua Adventure Water Park in Fremont for a day of fun in the sun!
