We focus on families whose children are currently on treatment; parents who need a night out, with safe, reliable, free babysitting! BASE Camp Kids ages 5-15; patients, and their siblings are included, and welcome to attend! From 6-9:30 we offer up crafts, games, dress-up, snacks, dinner & movies for the children who are dropped off so their parents can have a date night! The BASE CAMP KIDS are entertained by volunteers who bring kid friendly food, popcorn & movie candy BASE CAMP has a digital library of movies; G, PG, PG 13… depending on the age group of the children we will watch movies on our 70 inch big screen TV in our Hudson's Furniture/Ikea-Orlando family room! Our volunteer teams also bring "Lots of energy", games, crafts, and a respite for parents who just need a little time away from their children! Rain date, if needed: 6/5 Rovers Soccer Skill Building is directed by professional soccer coach and NJ Youth Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee, Spencer Rockman. This weekly, high energy session puts emphasis on skill-building games, which promotes maximum learning and enjoyment - enhanced by a small-sided match. These sessions are family-friendly, since siblings can play at the same time, divided according to age/ experience. Rovers accommodates all levels of play for boys and girls. 3B. Summer Camp - Build Your Own Computer-4 Days - Gizmos & Gadgets Kids Lab
In this hands-on investigation, kids will learn how a computer works by building a simple Raspberry Pi computer. Once the building is done, the fun continues while kids create their own versions of simple games and code in Minecraft on the computer they just built. We will have plenty of time off the computer as well when kids have the chance to learn and test game design and programming through active play. Kids keep their Raspberry Pi mini computer, WiPi, keyboard and all cables, as well as all their projects that they have compiled during the week! (858)964-0645
Fly Fishing - The Evergreen School
Fly fishing is a sport that teaches patience, improves motor skills, and fosters an appreciation for nature. No one can walk away from losing a five minute battle with a stubborn trout without a deep respect for the fish! Students will learn the basics of fly fishing – setting up their rod and reel, knot typing, basic overhead casting, selecting the right fly, etc. Discussion will also include the history of fly fishing, how its different from other kinds of fishing, and entomology. Campers entering grade 4 are grouped in units with girls of their own age/grade and are supervised by trained staff members and program aides. Campers participate in a wide variety of activities including earning badges, hiking, outdoor cooking, learning outdoor skills, crafts, games, singing and more. During the first hour of soccer camp, children will focus on the basic skills of soccer such as dribbling, passing, shooting and goal tending , as well as agility and foot-eye coordination. Goal tending will only be taught to those children who volunteer for this position. During the second hour, children will be able to eat a healthy snack and then participate in a series of cooperative games that will enhance their capabilities of being a good teammate and showing good sportsmanship. The third hour of soccer camp will be spent discussing the various rules of soccer such as hand ball, pushing and tripping, and playing modified games of soccer.
