Do you know WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE this Spring Break? At MCT, of course! Join us for a week long camp as each grade level works on a performance piece inspired by Maurice Sendaks Where the Wild Things Are or one of his other works, like Little Bear, Chicken Soup with Rice, or Higglety Pigglety Pop. Summer Art Camp for Kids - Winslow, AR
Summer Art Camp for Kids babaMonday-Friday, July 11-15, 9-12am Special outdoor dinner and performance on Friday, July 15, beginning at 6pm. Explore new areas in the arts at Summer Art Camp, July 11-15 at Ozark Folkways! Create giant masks and bring the characters of the Russian folk tale Baba Yaga to life as you experiment with music-making, movement, and mime! There will be witches, magical animals, fabulous costumes, lights, music and action: fun for all levels. Everyone will take part in a final performance at dusk on Friday, July 15 on our outdoor stage, the Crow’s Nest. The community will be invited to join in a weiner roast before the show, and then to marvel at the amazing performance the kids will have put together in a single week! Cost is $25 per child and includes all supplies and a healthy mid morning snack each day. Space is limited! Pre-registration is required and spots are available on a first come first serve basis. Theme 3: Energy and Sustainability [Urban Infrastructure] - Wow Science - Voorhees
In this theme, campers will explore how people use and work with energy as they develop and apply concepts of energy sources, energy receivers, energy transfer, energy chains, and energy storage. Specifically, we will conduct projects and experiments under the following topics: sun angle versus heating effect, how we measure energy, a Rube Goldberg energy chain, hydropower, an electric circuit, storing energy up a hill, energy trapped in the earth, model waterwheel, embodied energy, lowering environmental impact, and the greenhouse effect. Under the topic of sustainability, campers will examine the importance of the environmental sustainability of systems and activities related to urban infrastructure. Specifically, they will explore the following topics this summer: planning a sustainable community, solar water heater, solar lamp, evaluating runoff in their neighborhood, local natural hazards, model a biogas collector, build a composting system, and conduct a sustainability audit. Of course topics and associated activities will vary based on camp cohort – junior, main, or teen camp. High School Camp - Warm Lake Camp
Youth camps include three balanced meals each day, organized and supervised recreation, missionaries, chapel, camp fires, Bible study, clean cabins and showers and a health supervisor. All campers participate in the entire camping program. Campers are expected to behave in a manner honoring to God. They will remain on the grounds except when participating in scheduled activities away from camp. Campers leaving early must have written permission from parents. Campers are to be in camp by the end of the first day. NOTE: All swimming sessions are supervised, but not necessarily by certified lifeguards.
