This course is being offered in conjunction with the Webb Institute in Glen Cove: a private engineering college that offers a dual major in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Students work individually or in teams to design and build a boat that serves a specific mission. Each team is given a list of materials and then must collaborate on the design and construction of their boat. Student volunteers from Webb will assist the teams in applying engineering and physics to enhance the design of their projects. The week culminates with a field trip to the Webb Institute, where students get to test their construction skills under various conditions, tour their amazing facility, and visit the Robinson Model Basin to put their designs to the test by completing numerous challenges. This camp is recommended for girls ages 8 through 16 years of age. My 13 year old daughter attended Mountain Top Summer Dance Camp. What she liked about it surprised me. She really enjoyed the camaraderie of other girls who shared her passion for dance. At the end of the camp, the girls all held a talent show, and they performed for the parents. Spring Break Outdoor Fun Camp - Spring 15-16 - Marion County Parks and Recreation
A week of outdoor fun with a variety of recreation activities that may include nature exploration, hiking, kayaking (age relevant), fishing, crafts, etc. Before-and-after camp care (7:30 - 8 am and 5 - 5:30 pm) included. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Program refund requests must be received in writing 14 days in advance of the scheduled program date. Granted refunds will be less the Active Net assessed administration fee(s). Any cancellation made within 14 days will forfeit any and all fees paid. Web Development Students learn to design & develop interactive modern websites using professional tools, frameworks and libraries. This camp provides a strong Front End Web Development foundation as students learn user interface design and coding in HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript. Mobile Game Development Students learn to design and code a mobile game App using Unity, a professional game development platform widely used by independent (indie) game developers and studios, and C#, an industry standard object-oriented programming language. RailHawks professional strikers will teach the fundamental skills of shooting, including instep drives, inside/outside of the foot shots, volleys, headers, and more. Piano (Monday) - Janney Elementary School
Learning how to play instruments fosters self-expression, boosts listening skills, and enhances coordination. This new class is offered as an introduction for students to learn the basics of playing the piano and piano skills. Previous knowledge of playing is not required. It is open for both JAC and non-JAC students. Classes are 1-on-1 and last 15 minutes. The Enrichment Program will coordinate with JAC to transfer students to and from their lessons. Please note, however, the Janney Enrichment Program cannot provide supervision for non-JAC students after 3:30 PM. Students who are in a different class until 4:30 can be supervised to attend a piano class at 4:30 or 4:55.
